I always thought that magic was the only way to go, but then I discovered how fun it is to sneak attack every enemy with my awesome blade, and you can't do sneak attacks with spells.

Still, I will always prefer using magic, simply because it has so much variety unlike using only a single kind of weapon for the other two forms of attacking.

You guys have no idea how shocked I am that not a single soul has chosen Melee/Bow! My brother always uses that combination, and it is a very good one, so I figured I would have quite a few!

I use the bow all the time with my wood elf.
It's just that the rest of the time I play as a female dark ef summoner, I mean arrows and a sword.......or summoning a swirling vortex of living rock that shoots out thunder??

Light armour mixed with destruction magic, melee mainly with short swords. Occasionaly I'd summon an Imp for no reason to abuse the guards.

Normally, I don't use destruction magic all that often, but I have an 'oh sh!t' spell that basically nukes a 50-foot area. It completely drains my Magicka, so I only use it if I'm totally desperate to escape. Or if I'm bored and want to see things on fire. Which is always.

I had a really stretched build. I played a dunmer/dark elf under the atronoch. Wore heavy armor, learned all the sneaky stuff, bows, spells, sword and shield. Built up my magika absorption so I sponged up pretty much any magic that hit me. Once you learn how to bend the leveling system it's not hard to be insanely powerful in a hurry. My normal attack approach was to sneak, fire a stealthy shot with the bow, fire off the most powerful spell I've got to knock down my magic pool and charge in with sword (Umbra or Goldbrand) and shield.

I put sneaky since some stuff didn't survive the first shot.

I am a High Elf swordsman (with custom weapons and armour) who also uses a bow.

I usually go for the worst mix possible; Heavy/medium armour, blade, block and Stealth. It takes absolutely ages to level your skills for it to become viable, but no one expects to be attacked from the shadows by a warrior in full daedric armour.

On my current play through I focus mainly on melee with some summoning magic.
I would focus completely on magic but there doesn't seem to be enough spells that cause damage.

Sneaky guy, with a heavily enchanted bow and arrows.
A small dagger and some destruction just in case.
This ^^

Crouched in the shadows 200feet away with a damage health bow, and some badass poison applied to my arrow.....dead before they hit the ground :)

Decent knife, or perhaps a shortsword as a backup for close quarters, and light restoration magic for if a plan should ever go awry (rare these days)

Usually pick Khajiit, for superb acrobatics and agility, leaping from rooftop to rooftop in pursuit of my prey....

Bosmer Assassin. I always try to stick with the pre-built classes, since I'm using the OOO mod among others, which do quite a nice job of restricting the 'jack-of-all-trades' phenomenon of high-level characters.

That said, because of those mods, Conjuration is starting to look very appealing.

I usually go for a breton spellsword on the first run. Heavy armour, swords, and destruction/illusion magic. pretty overpowered. I usually go for a stealthy assassin build after that but never does enough damage late game.
