You'll notice that ZP is not actually found in the review section of the site, it's actually under featured content. Get over yourself dude, you're not the first person to rant on yahtzee and you're not going be the last, but NO ONE CARES.

His reviews are not meant to be taken seriously, you are supposed to take everything he says with a pinch of salt.

He has said it a few times himself in his reviews that its not really serious, and admits constantly he has unreasonably high standards.

Oh I'm sorry, I must have missed that, what with him referring to himself as a games reviewer so many times....not to mention the fact that it is, in fact, on the review page. Have a second look.

But hey, if Yahtzee says it's not meant to be taken seriously then ok - after all, my problem was that they didn't seem to proper reviews and nothing else. It's pretty much undeniable though that the blurb on the page for it states that it's a review page, in addition to it being on the review page, just to remind you, but ok. He's the one with the group of nut sucking sycophants and not me, so he must be doing something right....

Just interestingly though, if no-one cares, why did you feel the need to comment?

Wow, don't watch it if you don't like it. I find it hard to believe you could get this angry over free content or semantics.

Edit: Also your poll cannot be answered with a Yes or a No, it's 2 conflicting questions.

Calm the fuck down.

There's nothing with disagreeing with a specific reviewer's opinions, but if you're THAT angry because someone is more picky with his games than you are, then you just need to get over yourself.

I just took a look and he is not on there. That thing on the side doesn't count, that's there everytime except the forums.

OT:
While Yahtzee's opinions do matter to me, I do believe that he isn't meant to be taken serious enough to have a debate about.

Calumon: Unless your telling a joke. That's always good.

I mean, if a games a sandbox, you hate it.
Not true. He loved Saints Row 2, and he liked Infamous and Prototype, and those are all sandbox games.

If it's too linear, you hate it.
Also not true. Portal was completely linear and he loved that game. Also, Half Life 2.

If it's from Nintendo, you hate it.
He liked Mario Galaxy.

He liked Team Fortress 2, Painkiller, and plenty of other games that stuck closely to the conventions of their genres.

First of all: yes, they're not reviews, many people know that. Yahtzee mostly calls himself a "game critic", not a "game reviewer". And he's known for having an ego larger than Jupiter. And i'm pretty sure he didn't actually come up with branding and marketing, some other guy did. And they're NOT on the review page.

He's a critic, he says that. Also, look around the forum a bit please, you can throw a stone and hit an anti-yahtzee review.

Wow, that is a lot of hate.
I've played a lot of games that he has 'reviewed' and sometimes he is dead right and other times I think he's nuts because I had a lot of fun playing the game: Alien vs. Predator, Battlefield Bad Company 2, GTA 4, Portal Still Alive, Left 4 Dead 2, Modern Warfare 2, and many others. All the above games have their little problems here and there but overall I liked the games even though he said they were 'shite'. I have heard him say he has unreasonable standards and that he's not a creditable reviewer, he does the reviews to make people laugh. I haven't missed one of his reviews because of that fact; I love having a good laugh at least once a week and he gives it to me.

I fully intend to keep watching his work, I like his style and 9 times out of 10 I agree with him. In fact, this was a little exercise to emulate it. Can't you tell? Nor am I angry, geez. Perhaps, it being a forum and all, the rib digging is a little hard to pick up on, but I thought most on the internet were savvy to this sort of thing. The whole chat vignette there at the bottom was supposed to point out the superflous nature of it. Not to mention I said many times I didn't have a problem with the guy, just that his stuff isn't reviews, as it's presented. Have you guys got the point yet?

Thank you for reporting me, and of course you can answer the poll question. With a sentance like that you'd answer the last one. Also ZP is in the second bar of tabs at when you hit the review tab.

And by the by, if you do end up reading this Yahtzee, I really will see you at trivia. I fully intend to have a laugh and a drink with you over this one, I hope you enjoy it.

You pretentious, narcissistic whiny douchebag :p

Yahtzee doesn't call himself a reviewer, nor are the ZP videos found on the "Reviews" section of the website.

Does this mean I get to say "EPIC FA1L!!1!" ?

In conclusion: Mr Croshaw, you are not, in fact, a games reviewer - you're a gigantic fucking spleen that's been cut open and is currently leaking bile all over the internet. Please stop telling us porky pies to the contrary and just rebrand what you do here for what it is - fiery dark humour that just happens to use games as its sparking point.
First of all, I would like you to calm down.
We see people like you all of the time, but since you are new, I won't hold that against you. Yahtzee reviews games. He puts thought into it. He makes it hilarious. He is first a comedian, and second a reviewer. Did he review your favorite game and it came out unsavory? So yes, he is a reviewer. Last point, you said he should just make it "fiery dark humour" although he is mainly a comedian, he brings up points on games that most people don't think about, forcing you to face different facts about that game you love so much. And if you really like it, what he says shouldn't do ANYTHING to your opinion on the game.

Eh, pointing out quotes is different than being a sycophant, but good word choice. Check out the Smash Brothers Brawl mailbag showdown. I believe he may call himself a reviewer or critic in that one but then goes on to state a reason why his videos don't come with a score attached. The bottom line, I think, is that Yahtzee is to the marketing/hype engines of games what a knife is to skin - they both cut open the protective layer and let you see the soft, squishy flaws underneath. And yes, that analogy was really dark but I can't think of one better at the moment.
