Poll: Andrew Garfield or Tobey Macguire Spiderman?

Well I suppose you have to compare the two. Tobey Maguire was pretty good at portraying the nerdy speccy Parker in the beginning, but had a tendency to overegg the emotional scenes and I'm still not convinced he was a good Spider-Man and not just a great Peter Parker. Compared to him Andrew Garfield's movie hasn't actually been released yet so maybe I should resevre judgement until I can actually witness the completed product.

We can't judge until Amazing Spider-Man comes out really can we? But I was never a big fan of Toby, so I hope Garfield rocks it.

Pretty much this. I want to hope that Garfield does well, but obviously I can't make judgement on only a few clips. From the childhood Spider-Man that I grew up with, Garfield is holding true to that in a very modern way.

That said, I couldn't stand Macguire's Spider-Man by the second movie and the third movie had mean wanting to leave the theater.

Tobey was a terrible Spider-Man. He was an amazing Peter Parker. He was every bit the nerdy hero Peter was always meant to be. Even when the symbiote took over and he became Mister Dancy-Pants, he pulled off every bit of absolute dork he had to be. The only problem is that he didn't have that arrogance that Spider-Man is supposed to have. Peter Parker is the tormented nerd turned superhero who gets his life on track, but never truly shakes that stigma from his highschool life. When he puts on Spider-Man's outfit, he transforms into the cocky jerk he always envied, but with a twist of hero. That transformation began in the initial fight where he taunted the wrestler as he jumped around the cage, but never really came to fruition. Tobey just didn't crack wise enough to be a true Spider-Man, but I guess that's the writers' fault, not his.

Tobey gets my vote. Garfield just doesn't look right for the role in my opinion. And my god that hair...

I actually kind of scoffed at his [Garfield] costume in some of the teaser/leaked pictures; but having seen it in the trailer, it looks pretty awesome.

I like him physically more for spiderman but as others have said, I'm reserving my judgement for the actual movie.

OT: I'm kind of annoyed that they canned Tobey and that whole series. I'm not optimistic for the new one.
