Oh HECK YES. Clannad A.S made me cry minumum 4 times. And I am a 360 fps playing, airsofting, murder-simulator-loving gamer who's seen real people die multiple times. Clannad after story is the SHOW.Thaius said:Fact is, the Japanese don't care whether or not we Americans pay for their product. I know it sounds strange, but most of the money from American sales goes to the people selling it, not the people that made it. Not to mention it doesn't affect their thinking as to whether or not the anime should be taken to American audiences. Especially for the anime that wasn't taken over the America (not to mention the fact that English dubs usually suck), the easiest thing to do is just download it.
While we're at it, watch Clannad and its sequel series, After Story. I guarantee you will cry. Absolutely guarantee.
Ditto, but it made sense once I found out how the ending worked in the original visual novel. They actually managed to get both possible endings into the anime: really impressive, actually, despite the resulting confusion.slopeslider said:Oh HECK YES. Clannad A.S made me cry minumum 4 times. Crap that show's awesome, but I had to use wiki for the last episode.
You are a bad man. Doubly so because you know damn well there are legal ways to get anime without paying for it, but you still pirate. In other words, you go out of your way to steal it, which is--forgive me for saying it, but I gotta call it like it is--a total dick move. Why is that?LackofCertainty said:Whoa, whoa, whoa, you mistake me as a person who believes what I am doing is right. I know I am stealing. I know I am a thief. I know that I am taking food out of the mouths of the creators, but the thing is that I don't really care that much. I am a bad man.
*snipt*
I am not defending my actions in this thread, I'm merely condemning my fellows bad men/women who consider themselves above me, and at the same time suggesting that if anime translators want to profit from my/our evil ways, they need to adapt to me, because I represent their market. (or at least a large portion of it) The producers must adapt to the demands of the market, or at least they should if they want to make money.
Well, if you want the manga for free as well, you can read scans of it at http://www.onemanga.com/Azmael Silverlance said:Do you realise how expensive shipping costs can be for some countries? Youll have to really buy a huge bulk just to justify the purchase and i reckon most ppl would need alot of time to collect the cash anyway. I personaly get my anime for free mostly cuz there were no dvds in my country also cuz before i couldnt afford it. After i came to australia my finance actualy allows me to buy stuff but im not watching anything at the moment. I think only thing i would bother downloading is One Piece cuz its my favorite.kahlzun said:eBay that sucker!Donnyp said:what if you live somewhere backwards with only a couple stores and none carry what you like? Thats my Dilemma lol.
I just prefer manga before anime. Animes usualy cut stuff and change some stories which always makes me angry.
And its very relaxing to sit back in the sofa and have some quality time with a book (even if its a manga).
but ye you cant always blame people for downloading for free. Most people cant afford or if they do buy some stuff they simply cannot meet all their needs. What if you watch like 50 on-going animes. . . cmon thats some serious buck even for the high australian standards!!
i know hardcore anime fans who have TBs of anime on their PCs . . . .i cant even imagine how much money would all that cost if they actualy had to pay for it.
To sum it all in my experiance everybody who can affod it and is a fan of some kind of a franchise will go and buy it cuz its more enjoyable.
And if some nations live in an 500$ average monthly salary pray tell how will they aford to buy couple of their favourite anime seasons on dvds and keep in mind that the prices are the same!
What groups are you into? I know of a couple different import sites in English that ship to the UK (I'm pretty sure--I'll have to check), but let me know what you want.Kruxxor said:I would love to actually buy all the music and Animé that I like. The problem is there's a TON of Japanese rock / pop that I listen to and living in the UK it's pretty impossible to find a store that even stocks a learn Japanese CD, let alone music. Online it'll cost me an arm and a leg to get a single CD shipped from Japan, not to mention I have to go through Japanese websites (which I won't be able to read or understand) So, unfortunately, I have to download them.
