I am an avid anime lover, as well as a lover of The Escapist. Under the review section there is a spot for anime reviews. The last time this section was updated though, was in 2011. I think there may have been a few more animes to come out since then.

I am taking a survey to see if anime is something us user want to see more of on The Escapist. I know Anime is not for everyone, and this is a gaming news sight. But, even according to The Escapist: "The Escapist Magazine is not just about games. We geeks do not exist in a videogame vacuum."

Is more anime on The Escapist something we want to see?

For me that is quite the affirmative! I didn't know there was a review section Anime. I only wonder how much comes out now on retail shelves? I never really hear much about retail releases anymore. I'd almost would have thought that production would have come to a halt. I don't hear about ANYTHING. Nobody here seem to like Japanese anime. It's really so sad.

yeah there is no announcement when new anime comes out in stores. But, there are a lot anime streaming sights out there. Sights like crunchyroll, gogoanime and animefreak to name a few; even netflix has a fairly large anime section.

The word about good new anime doesn't really get out that fast. it took me a long time to find out about Attack on Titan or Overlord at Work.

I think the question I've always asked myself whenever I'm reminded that the anime review section of the Escapist hasn't been updated for so long:

Who would continue to run that section of the Escapist website?

I'm sure if other users on the forum knew more about that section, I'm sure there would be some people willing to update that section with more anime series that have come out (at least) after 2011... I know I would (if I had the time) to do some of the anime series that did come out before 2011, but were re-released on DVD/Blu-Ray like the Tenchi Muyo series... or the .Hack// series...

Yes, I want to see more anime reviews... But, then who would actually do them for the Escapist's Anime Review section instead of for the User Review section? (I mean, besides me, but you get the picture...)

That's actually quite interesting... because those two series, especially Attack on Titan, were constantly reminding me of their existence... I gave in to watching Attack on Titan after its 5th episode came out and I have yet to check out Overlord at Work...

Hataraku Maou is getting an English release?

I'd like an updated anime section because I follow all the airing stuff but I have no idea when or how much is released state-side. Though I'd like more oldies to be reviewed since I know the modern stuff. Especially if they change the names.

I didn't find out about Titan until about episode nine or so; then once I started to watch it saw it everywhere. Overlord at Work I only found out about after it was all done, and i was looking for something new to watch. Give it a shot it's really funny, and a little cute too.

No Hataraku Maou is not getting an English release to my knowledge. I bet it will get one soon though.

Sounds like my kind of anime... and I usually end up watching anime series that fall under my three personal categories, anyway...
-Those that end up with an american TV-MA rating on the anime collection box... (or could of had one if it was dubbed by Funimation...)
-Those that are cute, funny, and/or just plain random...
-Those that are super serious and/or dark (almost to the point I laugh at some of their non-funny moments...)
...and that sometimes doesn't even include the classics from early 2000s downward...

I know what you mean. one of my top animes is Hanasaku Iroha, which is about a young girl whos mom disowns her for the most part. it sounds sad but it's kind of cute.

The localized title threw me off. I was getting excited for a moment there :(

For me personally? Nah. I'm not into cartoons/anime and honestly, I never really was, even as a young kid. Don't know why, I was just always more attracted to mature stuff. This seeps into video games too. I cannot stand JRPGs, for example. So yeah, not for me.

I wouldn't mind seeing a few more anime reviews on the site. I've written a few anime reviews in the User review section, and I kinda wanted to get into anime reviewing, although I'm not sure if I have the drive to do so regularly.

Yeah, same here. If the anime section could come back... It's very hard to find good anime, mostly because the popular ones are usually let downs, but that's the ones you hear about first.

I love anime, but I'm not sure the Escapist should be having a go at it. It doesn't seem like their cup of tea, in reality.

More or less what I was thinking. Anime makes up the majority of what I watch these days, but I don't really see a need for it on the Escapist. I got Crunchyroll for both the news and the actual viewing which is in fact something I prefer. They have the rights to air them as well as report on the news and host reviews, news, user discussion and user reviews.

Leave it to those who are more passionate about it.

you make a point, you do... but once again "The Escapist Magazine is not just about games. We geeks do not exist in a videogame vacuum." why not get it here too?

I don't really know, it seems like a bit of a stretch to ask for something official but I could see someone in the community having a go at it and becoming something of a flagship. Like Marters movie reviews.
Anime Reviews and updates.
I kind of like the sound of that.

Well, I've been recommended quite a few anime (most of which I have given a shot) and I have to say that I have only like 1 and a half of them. The one I liked was Code Geass but the second season wasn't nearly as good (it had a great ending though). The half was the the first season of Death Note. The second season was shit.

My friend who often rants at me about anime is now ranting to me about how I must watch Attack on Titan. Can anyone tell me based off the one and a half animes that I have liked whether or not I would like this one?

Edit: My answer was no. If it's in my face all of the time I'd probably stop using this site. If there was a forum section devoted to it, go nuts.
