I loved the books when I was ten. I waited eagerly for them to come out, up until about the second megamorphs book. I lost interest then, though I did eventually read them all. It was an interesting series and a lot better then some of the YA book offerings out there.

The TV show was mediocre at best.

My favourite characters were Tobias and Ax. I guess pre-teen me thought weirdo outsiders were awesome.

Aximili Esgarouth Isthil. I still remember Ax's full name. And his older brother, Elfangor Sirinial Shamtul.

I forget Visser Three's original Andalite name, though...

I like how your reason for liking the books is "Those little pictures were so neat!"
That's not the only reason I liked them, but it is the main one.
Now you're just backpedaling.
Admit it! You are shallow!
Dooo eeet.
Fine, yes, I'm shallow, but isn't everyone.
Take this guy for example:

Books of course :D I'm not into it anymore (sold the series on ebay recently), but I can't deny it was an awesome series. On that note, I really want to read KA Applegate's other series, Remnants and Everworld, they look really interesting. I never bothered seeing the TV series though (it was on Nickolodeon and the BBC over here, but I never really got into the series. They couldn't compare to the books, for me.).

EDIT: I think for me the main plot point that I loved was the ongoing thing between Rachel and Tobias. Also, when I read the Andalite Chronicles and found out about Tobias's parentage (I won't mention what it is here for spoilers), that really surprised me. I hadn't got that far yet in the main series, you see.

A lot of the time I felt I could really identify with Tobias though, so that was a big draw for me to the rest of the series...

I loved the series as a kid. The ending was crazy. Very bittersweet. They win, but at a big cost.

Rachel dies in the last battle.
Cassie splits from Jake and becomes a Park Warden to protect the Hork Bajir.
Ax is assimilated into an alien life form.
The others fly a ship into the alien life form, their fates unknown.
There, fixed. Even though you and I have read the whole series, it doesn't mean everyone here has reached the end...

EDIT: Sorry for the double post...

They are.
Okay, that doesn't prove anything.
He was clearly forced to type that at gunpoint.
That's not nice.
Yes it does.
He did that of his own free will.

Sorry about that. I didn't think people would mind all that much considering its a decade old childrens series. I'll add spoiler tags in a sec.

The Yeerks were pretty frakking traumatizing when I read about them as a kid. *shudders*

I did like the book series. As per usual, it was superior to the TV series.

Hey its not shallow when your in love with fantasy books and you find one that makes you lose some brain cells. They were not very good, the plots stunk and such. Im only giving my opinion and dont bash me for it. Thank you

lol, this poll is pointless. The TV series was one of those utter failures that never should have been aired in the first place.

I think I read all of them but the very last one.
Not that I felt obligated to, though. I think that was the day I discovered Wikipedia.
Plus it was just a filler book where they filled in the blanks.

Which is something a ten page epilogue could have completed.

Oh god heres a blast from the past! I haven't read animorphs in like 8 years now. Definitely the books, they were amongst my favorite book series growing up as a child. The tv show was shallow by comparison, and pathetic how they couldn't put things like Andalites in often because of production costs. What a shame.
