Poll: Any fencers out there?

Hello my fellow Escapians,

I live in the U.S. and I started taking fencing lessons a little over a year ago and I've been wondering, how many of you are fencers? And of course by fencing I mean sword fighting. Also put the style you've been trained in if you are a fencer. I'm classically trained myself.

I am a fencer myself. I practice Epee on a semi regular basis, I was captain of my squad in High School, but I'm not a particularly talented fencer myself. I've not een introduced to the concept of "style" that you refer to aside from that I'm trained merely as one who fences for sport.

I'd love to see a fencer at a martial arts weapons competition. Always eastern styles.

They did fencing at my college, and I did mean to try it out but I was just far to lazy at the time. A mate said it was great fun though.

I fence in my high school, and we are classically trained. Generally, we do foil; as our school does not support Sabre. (But if it did, OH, MAN!)

I don't claim to be a professional but last summer I put a fence back up with my dad after a very strong wind blew it down.

In all seriousness, I wanna try it, my university has a fencing society.

My friend used to fence. If I was to get into sword fighting, I'd learn something other than a French combat technique that relies soley on thrusts and whose sword can be snaped by any real length or iron. No offense of course. I probably would go with the good old sword and sheild techniques myself. But I hear fencing is great fun. I might actually give it a go sometime.

I am a fencer, but I don't put up fences, nor do I use swords.

I used to fence in college. I used a classical Italian grip foil, but was coached in a more modern style.

I got a bit of flack for it, but it was more comfortable for me. <_<

I wish. I always wanted to learn, but I could never find a place that taught it where I lived. I'm hoping to take it up once I go to University.
