Mods are also welcome.

Help...:)

Also out of interest....

You can get gears of war for your PC. It isn't as good as the 360 version, but its still pretty cool. I can't think of any other besides splinter cell, but I don't really think its a third person shooter.
Edit: Oh sorry, I thought you meant third-person shooters.

Was just about to say the same thing, they're quite old but they're still very good games, Max Payne that is, the first one oozes coolness aswell.

There's an old one for the PC called Enter The Matrix, it's quite a challenging game. Never actually finished it but I thought it had pretty much everything an action game needed, not only shooting but also martial arts, driving etc.
No, you don't get to play Neo.

Gears of War is cool, and I heard a lot of people liked Lost Planet.

Enter the Matrix? Really? I got the cube version. It sucked. Unless they made massive changes in the shift to PC, you've got some weird tastes.

I enjoyed Lost Planet, though. It was lovely to see a game where a character with eastern looks is the hero. Even if his name is Wayne. The mech fighting was fun, too. On the other hand, I did play the 360 version, so I don't know how well it held up in the port. O'course, you should never pass up the opportunity to play as a big robot with a chaingun on one shoulder, a rocket launcher on the other, and an extendable chainsaw for a hand.

It was an ok game, but not great. I just said it was cool, because there are some really cool scenes. eg. the scene with car in the airplane. there is also this thing called hacking on PC which allows you to get cool cheat. I don't know if its on gamecube though.

Freedom Fighters by IO interactive (the same who made hitman. That's a really good game. I reckon you can get it pretty cheap too

Second on Freedom Fighters.
It's a great game and it does squad based combat better than most.
Max Payne is great and if you can find it there's a game called Kill.Switch.
Basically this is the game Gears of War got its cover system from. In fact pretty much the whole play style of GoW but without the shaky cam and at a much faster pace. I loved it but many didn't, so its worth a try.

Although thinking laterally for a minute.

I'm sure you could pick up a PS1, Syphon Filter, SF2 and 3 for not much more than one new pc game. The first two are fantastic (although sadly aged now), whilst number three is simply quite good. Then the PS2 versions came along and the wheels fell of the franchise.

The last two levels of SF1 and most of SF2 are some of the hardest in gaming ever...

Just to add more.

Try Cold Fear.
It plays quite similarly to Resident Evil 4 but on a ship in the middle of an Atlantic storm. Try lining up those headshots as the ship hits a wave, really disorienting and actually quite scary.
