I just got back from GameStop a few minutes ago, and picked up F.E.A.R and F.E.A.R Files for about 10 bucks total. F.E.A.R I originally got on the 360 back in 2007, and sold at around 2009. Both used copies I acquired now are in perfect condition with the cases and manual. A lucky find, I do say. I'll probably continue on finding some other last-gen games that interest me, but as far as I'm concerned, I got most of the 360 games I wanted.

Heck yeah. I've already had to go to a retro shop to get a WiiU, I'm not going to wait to pay retro game prices for the titles I haven't picked up yet.

Nope.

1. My last gen pile of shame is already a nightmare;
2. This gen becoming affordable enough for a brand, spanking new pile of shame.

What is wrong with me!?!?!?

"Last minute"? I still buy PS2 games. I do still buy the odd PS3 game here and there, but like the poster above me my pile of shame is huge so I've been cutting back on the impulse purchases. It's one of the reason I don't own a current gen console/PC (although I almost bought a PS4 the other day, and will probably get a gaming PC in the not too distant future).

I don't have a PS4 or gaming-ready PC. All the games that I buy are either Wii U, 3DS, or dirt-cheap games for the PS3/360. Just this X-Mas I got the Devil May Cry trilogy on the PS3 and it's pretty awesome!

I also like to buy older games than that; PS2, GBA, GBC...I say my PC can't game but just over the past 24 hours I've picked up some adventure games from the last few years (Detective Grimoire, Rusty Lake Hotel, Dropsy). I mostly buy and play older games anyway...Dragon Quest VII on the 3DS is the most current game I'm playing at the moment. In the next few weeks I might be getting a PS4 though...I guess...definitely getting a Switch but I'm not about to seal away my older consoles.

Nothing. If you're satisfied, you have no worries.

I bought some PS2 games between 2012-2014 on Amazon. I'll probably plan on more later when I have the time.

I am almost always buying games from previous gen's. Right now my focus is on filling out my PS3/360 library and I pick up stuff from current gen on sale. I'll start really working on this gen's library when the Scorpio successor and PS5 are ready to launch. Very rarely do I buy anything new when it comes out. My wife bought me Uncharted 4 at launch for my birthday. I'll buy Mass Effect Andromeda at launch because I live and breathe Mass Effect, and maybe some telltale games (because I like episodic storytelling for some reason). But that's about it. Everything else I buy post launch unless it's a multiplayer title I have friends that are going to play regularly. With day one patches, broken games at launch, and DLC, I'd rather wait for the complete experience. So I'm constantly buying last gen stuff.

Case in point - just picked up Dragon Age Inquisition: GOTY for $12 on this week's Xbox sale. Picked up Arkham Knight about six months after launch with the season pass for about $35 total.

But more specifically to the question, I had almost $200 in amazon gift cards burning a hole in my pocket and used that plus some extra cash and ordered the following from amazon this week:

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 2 (PS3)
Lost Dimension (PS3)
Folklore (PS3)
Puppeteer (PS3)
Super Mario Galaxy (Never got around to this on the Wii)
Silent Hill 2 (PS2)
Killer 7 (PS2)
Red Dead Redemption (Xbox 360)
Alan Wake (Xbox 360)
Vanquish (Xbox 360)
Star Ocean: The Last Hope (PS3)
Final Fantasy XIII-2 (Xbox 360)
Kingdom Hearts Final Mix 2.5 (PS3)
Infamous 2 (PS3)
Dead Rising (Xbox 360)
Alan Wake (Xbox 360)
Disgaea Triple Play (PS3)
Zone of the Enders Collection (Xbox 360)

I miss out on a ton of stuff at launch, but get it cheaper down the road. Every 12 to 18 months I do a big purchase like this and then have a ton of stuff to play for like a year. It works better for me this year since I can't keep up with new stuff anyways.

"Anybody else doing any last minute last-gen game shopping?"

My first thought was
"Why? Is something gonna happen when it's 2017? O_O"

Anyway.

I rented the Ico/Shadow of the Colossus collection a year ago or so and coming to own The Last Guardian makes me want to own it so I might get that.

Been thinking about Dead Space recently too. I still own 3 but I used to trade in my old games fo rnew ones if they were sequels so that means I now only own the weakest of the Dead Space trilogy and was thinking of getting the good ones.

Trouble is my PS3 has been having some issues lately and I'm wondering if I'll even be able to play what I buy.
Woe is me.

I wouldn't call it last minute, but I've been grabbing titles here or there that I missed out on. Like Nier, and Demon's Souls.

No, but we're at that point where places like Best Buy & GameStop are slowly phasing out last gen games. More so the former, but the time will come for GameStop too. My local Best Buy barely has a decent amount of 360/PS3 games left. The GameStops I've been to have more selections, but eventually that's not going to be case anymore. Of course the're places like Amazon, but think of it as a heads up for people needing the convenience.

I think this year I bought almost as many previous-gen games than 2016 releases. Catherine, Demon's Souls, Tokyo Jungle, FFX & FFXI HD, ICO & SotC HD, etc. There are also lots of old games that I have bought thanks to Steam sales. I think my list of games pending to play have more games from past years than new releases.

I'm starting with the first one and GEEZE, I forgot about all the stuff I had to go through before I got to the lava-scorpi-rantula boss! I keep hearing bad things about DMC2 but all that's doing is making me want to play it more. I'm that weird person who really likes the not-as-good games in a series so maybe I'll like DMC2! Or maybe I'll just skip to 3 or find someone who'll give me 4, I dunno (I remember renting and strongly disliking DMC4).

Similar to Resident Evil, once you know where everything is, you'll blaze through levels on repeated playthroughs. Most of the levels are short, and compared to RE, it's even simpler. DMC2 you can try, but keep in mind, you only get three weapons that differ only in cosmetics and stats; otherwise all of the combos are the exact same. The only thing unique or brought new to the DMC franchise was amulet/medallion system that gave different boosts to devil trigger and attacks, Lucia (most of her levels are lazy, shorter retreads of Dante's), a dedicated dodge button (Trickster became this for 3), and Bloody Palace (missing in Vanilla!DMC3, but brought back in Special Edtion). If you can make it further than me, then kudos to you. I stopped after mission 11.

No. I played every last-gen game I wanted to play and played my favorites multiple times. Other than a handful of classics I might revisit in the future(probably far in the future) the PS3/360 era is over and done with. :p

This has been kind of my routine since the NES days. I might keep an old system one or two years into the current-gen and then never play it anymore. I also make sure I only buy what I play so I never have a 'pile of shame' anyway. I love games and always make time for them but even then with current favorites and new releases that time is pretty much occupied. :p

Similar to me. You won't see my 360 library full of COD titles/imitators or Battlefield.
