The gameplay video was more or less what I was expecting from the origional ads and marketing hype, so sure I'm still exited about it. The exploding throwing knives and electro-machete look a little wierd, but what the hell thay also look pretty fun.
Same here. I'm not sure what it was about the original trailer that made other people expect otherwise. Hell I remember seeing the same type of "dramatic emotionally slow motion trailers" for Grand Theft Auto 3.

I've been following the game since years back, so the gameplay is generally what I expected from it.

It's the coop I'm mainly interested in. It should be a blast to play this with friends, so I'm definitely looking forward to it.

I'll wait for the reviews and maybe I'll get this one after a price drop. While it still looks like it could be decent, the gameplay footage I've seen doesn't seem to show any of the potential for brilliance that the original cinematic trailer showed. But then, the gameplay footage didn't show much of the game's actual plot or narrative, so that emotional edge could still be there. Either way, it's something I'll be keeping an eye on until I can safely tell whether I'd actually be interested in it or not.

I think I'll wait until Yahtzee rips tears it appart and then, against my better judgement, still get it.

I WAS going to get it, but then I saw the gameplay and realised it was an utterly shameless ripoff of Left 4 Dead, only without the interesting mutations.

You know, I saw the gameplay video and it doesn't look bad. Kind of like Just Cause 2 with zombies and co-op. I could dig that.

I really want to try a demo.
I was thinking more along the lines of Dead Rising in first person personally.

what part of it looks like L4D?

Its not firearm-centric like L4D. Its much much brighter than L4D. It appears to be much more like a sandbox, quite unlike L4D's fixed campaigns. It features a weapon crafting/upgrading system much more like dead rising 2 as opposed to fixed weapons with better weapon "pickups" like L4D has. And most importantly the only multiplayer experience it appears to offer is 4 player cooperative, which of course would mean it would miss out on L4Ds outstanding vs mode play, which was one of the best VS experiences on the 360 for a long time.

It doesn't look like Dead Island will allow players the joys of playing survivors and steamrolling every pathetic attempt of infected players to ambush them like L4D did. It looks alot more like first person dead rising than L4D. Which I have to admit has me intrigued. I'll probably get it.

It looks like it's going for a realistic zombie apocalypse and is actually going to try to bring horror back into the zombie genre. I can't wait for this game, it's probably one of my most anticipated of this year :D

I'm set in No for this game.

I've never been a fan of the zombie wave in games as of the last 2 years, or zombies period, so I don't plan to buy or rent this one. Deep Silver is a good developer, but they have enough other games that I like I can pick from.

I don't think it has much in common with L4D except for the fact that they're both about a zombie apocalypse.

completely agree with, the fighting looks to be a similar style and the horror will probably be the same.

I think it's a little more like Far Cry 1 since it's in a tropical setting.

Maybe, like most games I'll watch the reviews for it and judge if i should get it through them.
But the game play demo, other then the slightly wonky looking animation, looked pretty good.

People said L4D was a rip-off of Zombie Panic, just thought I should put that one out there.

Rent.

I rent all game, only buying if the timesink is insane. Think Fallout or TES.
Yea. It looks a little like that.
If it works better than those games and has that much content, I'll buy it.

But I'm definitely renting it.

What they showed at E3 wasn't bad but it didn't really impress me either. If there's a demo I will check that out and if that's any good I might get the game on release or wait for a discount.

Depends on whether people I know will be getting it. Seems to be rather focused on the co-op, which isn't a bad thing I guess.

I'll probably wait for a price drop. Of course, considering I do that with nearly every new game that comes out, even if I want it, that doesn't say too much...
