I mean it looks like it would be an enjoyable watch but...how would apes overrun an entire army? (from the looks of the trailers anyway) but also from the trailers i saw some VERY derpy shit like for example: one of them had a guy charging a friggen gorilla on a horse with what looks like a night stick...i mean...really? ok sure they were on a tight bridge but still..i don't think APCs are THAT big...: alright maybe an ape would be able jump into a helicopter if it's close enough but that brings up another point...how would apes...survive airstrikes of any kind? not to mention Tanks...and other armored vehicles.
I don't know i might be thinking too much about it
or i may be fucking retarded...anyway what are your thoughts on this?

...and aren't many of them on the endangered species list, not to mention, are there REALLY that many here in the U.S, or even outside of the African continent to make that much of an impact?

Is that some sort of sequal the to 'planet of the apes' movie? That one was already just plain bad. I'm certainly not watching any sequal to it.
i assume it's a prequel but...in that movie they had spaceships...this one is set in modern day...so...yeah

I laughed when I watched the trailer, especially when the apes appeared above the humans with guns, I was thinking "oh no, they're going to fling their crap at us"

I haven't seen the trailer or read anything about the movie (or seen the original), but I'm guessing the apes didn't defeat the humans in war (yeah, that'd be retarded), but more likely the humans were brought to near-extinction by some disease or w/e that the apes were unaffected by.

Its a prequal/reboot of an old movie from a time where people did not think too hard on plots.

It looks watchable up until the point the apes fight the soldiers... I mean, one guy was chugging away with a helicopter mounted machine gun. Apes, no matter how intelligent, can't stop stuff like that. I can leave my belief at the door like a pro, but I struggle on this.

Whenever I see the trailer, I can't but just think, "Why don't we just shoot them?".

Sidenote: I give good odds there'll be some PETA-esque protester saying we shouldn't fight the apes that in a truly ironic and never before seen twist is killed by the apes.

i don't think anyone would defend something that would (and will) rip your face off
...then again...that may be the case

There is a difference between suspension of disbelief and "here's your complementary hammer for your head along with your ticket sir."

The trailer to me just looked silly, I might watch it if someone else rents it off redbox, but I wont waste money on it.

well, it's not "just silly". I'd say it's downright retarded. maybe they should consider getting some of that "intelligence enhancing drug" themselves...

Short answer-nah won't watch it.

You are aware there were 5 original films, right?! based on novels. Does movie bob do nothing?! :D Planet of the apes, Beneath the planet of the apes, Escape from...., conquest for, battle for.
First was planet of the apes. Made in 1968 the rest were cranked out between then and 1973.
The original [rise of the planet of the apes] was quiet a message on classes. Advert explains the whole plot. Although in the original the one mega smart ape is from space - yep space. The humans lose control and eventually nuke all the apes.

You can guess the middle 2

The last follows on from the first. The plot of the original: A second mission is sent to find the first when they lose contact (it goes on a much further course than they planned so they sent one at the same speed(!!) to fetch it). He also crashes, is helped to escape by the helpful apes in the first one. Finds a desert then takes forever to find surviving humans. They have huge heads and are telekinetic pacifists who worship a nuclear missile. [I'll call them Muppets].

The survivor, this movies protagonist has been tracked by the apes who brave all the Muppets' psycho ploys, used to ward off previous ape excursions. The apes get in to the Muppets' underground city and the nuke goes off.

The end 10 seconds of the film shows a graphic of the world becoming red in hue. With a narration 'A small brown planet orbiting a lonely star has died'

They're all just remakes. Eh. Its nice to see them with all swishy pulpiness rather than a very depressing message.

Apes popping nootropic drugs and waging war on humanity. Silly, but with high potential for entertainment. I'd be willing to bet at some point in the movie a guy offers one a Banana in exchange for his life.
