It looks absolutely ridiculous. Apes go in contention with the entire planet? Sorry, no...we win by sheer numbers, not to mention the ammo, guns, tanks, helicopters, fighter jets, missiles...etc...etc. It would be the most one sided fight in the history of the world. I know I won't be touching this movie. It makes no sense at all.
This, basically. Every time I see this trailer, I just look at the screen and sigh.

You know how this movie might work? If it was a parody or something. I could see a premise like this working as a comedy. But as a 100% straight faced film? It's going to fail harder than Duke Nukem Forever.

I think the name is horrible. Also it doesn't seem interesting imo so not gonna watch it.

Hello it's me again. Just asking if you don't find it illogical that there are monkeys "infected" with intelligence?
Its a movie, a story , sci-fi=fantasy. You remember the lord of the rings, sooo illogical a being huge as an olifant would been crushed by its own weight.
Or the Walking Dead. EVERYONE knows how to deal with zombies...but wait. the people there never heard of it...because its not our earth here again.
If you have a "What if" story, you dont always have our reality as a premise. Similarity is enough.

No, it is silly. So, I am pledged to watch something less silly, like Cowboys And Aliens.

Additional: This would never happen anyway. What we'd really get is an absorbtion of the smart ape community that eventually makes the world alot like Schlock Mercenary.

They are smarter than humans, and larger than humans. If zombies can take over the world an army of super smart gorillas could do it too.

I was thinking that the other apes would take control of other weapons to help even though that isn't shown in the trailer. I see your point but I'm still gonna watch it.

Saw the trailer and I won't be going to see this. It just does not make any sense I mean the apes came to power after humans had essentially nuked themselves back into the stone age. But here in the trailer we have your basic monkeys taking on the entire combined military forces of the earth in some gorilla warfare (couldn't resist).

And that is before we get to the title of the film Rise of The Planet of the Apes. Apart from kinda ruining the surprise for the one person who doesn't know how Planet of the Apes ended, it does seem like they've shoe horned the name Planet of the Apes into the title just to ride the coat tails of the original film when Rise of the Apes probably would have been a more sensible title.

EDIT

Ninja'd on the Gorilla warfare pun

The new movie looks very silly, I agree. Even if apes could fight effectively against the US military or even a SWAT team... what is the population of apes in North America? A few hundred? Maybe a couple thousand? Versus 300 million + humans? That doesn't seem like a fair fight.

On the other hand, the original movie was TERRRRRRRIBLE. Just GOD FREAKING AWFUL. I can't believe some people in this thread said they were going to avoid seeing the new one because the original was so good. If you think it's preposterous that super-smart apes could take down men with guns... then how on earth do you believe it's plausible that over the course of a few hundred or even a few thousand years primates went through a few billion years of evolution... that they all speak perfect English... and yet the humans at the time just stopped talking for no reason at all and are mute... that these apes somehow developed religion that is very much like Christianity... that over the course of 700 years humans went from having heart surgery and making talking dolls and wearing eyeglasses to living in trees wearing animal skins and not being able to say a word and yet the talking apes have no memory at all that humans were ever any different.
I could go on and on and on... I didn't even mention Charlton Heston smoking inside his space craft... the new movie looks silly... but compared to the original film I'm sure it's genius.
