Hey everyone, I dont think I'm the only one who is excited for the new Bioshock next year. After watching gameplay demos I am excited to see all the advances in in-game storytelling they seems to have made. Note that I am taking all my hopes with a grain of salt, but lately I am not so sure.

What does everyone make of the recent development in the game team at irrational, and are any of you starting to feel a little apprehensive like me?

I'm not really that interested in the entertainment industry's sudden obsession with steam punk so I'm kind of meh. If I hear great things about it I may pick it up. I appreciate the franchise, but don't care for it too much.

To be worried about something, I have to care about it first.
Nothing about Infinite has given me cause to care at all, from gameplay to characters.

I voted for Don. I like Don.

I would be worried, but I've spent years building up my cynicism so that I could be immune to hype.
I hope it does well, but I'm not gonna lose any sleep over it.

No, not at all.

I have faith in the Irrational team. Also, where's the "not worried" option?

I think still optimistic is pretty much the same as not worried.

And just a note, you are all welcome to post whatever you want, but I think that if you really don't care about this game a simple poll vote will suffice for your opinion. I could be wrong however lol.

For those who don't know, a couple a members of the development team on infinite left the company this week and I was speaking mostly of that. Hype doesn't concern me as much as the idea that a game I am excited for is gonna suck because of late stage design changes etc.

Havent really been following it but am still hopeful it will turn out to be decent as I really enjoyed Bioshock that said I am not really hyped for the game they can take as long as they want in releasing it I doubt it will be a day one purchase for me but if its good I will almost certainly get it at some point.

I'm thinking it's looking good so far. The Big Daddy equivalent looks kind of silly I guess, but otherwise it seems fine.

I'm always wary when a lot of the major gaming media sites are shitting themselves over how awesome a game looks. When's the last time that happened? RAGE? Yea, I'm not getting my hopes up.

I really didn't think the first Bioshock was that awesome anyways. It was good, but certainly not great.

When I heard some developers had left I was a little worried, but by now the majority of concepts and script, etc. etc. have most likely been finished for months, so they probably don't require the those developers.

Even with all the issues that Irrational Games appears to be having it seems unlikely that Bioshock Infinite will somehow end up being worse than Bioshock 2 ergo I remain cautiously indifferent.

The team that made Bioshock didn't make Bioshock 2. This team that's making Infinite made Bioshock 1.

Also, the art guy who came on board worked on Bioshock 1 (If I read it right) and by all acounts, and I think we all can agree, that the art direction in that game was really good.

I was worried when they made BSI a two weapon limit/regenerting health game.

This, this is just the final nail in the coffin, prepare for Call of DutyShock, or Bio-duty.

I agree with the comment above to a degree, but I do have to say that two weapon systems and regen aren't the parts of call of duty that make it so bad. These feature won't inherently ruin bioshock, but they could be signs of bigger problems

No they aren't what makes CoD bad, but, part of what made Bioshock 1 so great was the managing your health pack things, and making choices about what weapons to upgrade, and managing all the ammo types.

BSI wont have any of that unfortunately.
-No resources that you have to manage
-No weapon upgrades
-No alt ammo types

And watching the gameplay footage they have shown up of it looks like they are just trying to make game of "HERE'S SOME ACTION" instead of doing what make Bioshock 1 so great, i.e. not be a game that was all about "HERE'S SOME EXPLOSIONS".

Has Irrational definitely said it won't have those things, or say they might be in later in the game? I mean a lot can change from when those videos were taken.

Because I doubt Ken Levine, the guy who was heavily involved with System Shock would let his game go down the CoD route.

How exactly are you going to have weapon upgrades when you drop your weapon every 5 seconds to pick up the next one?

My eyebrows raised and, my ears perked up a bit when I heard multiplayer was being ditched. Other than that though, I could care less about Infinite. It looks alright but there are a lot of other things I'm keeping my eyes on at the moment which I can actually get a hold of in the foreseeable future.

You know that 'taking it with a grain of salt' means that you aren't 100% sure of something, making the second half of that sentence seem a bit redundant? Just letting you know.

And yeah, I'm a bit worried. Everything we've seen to do with it has looked extremely good, but then we hear stuff that may or may not be true about people leaving the team and features being dropped and stuff...
IMO if the rumour about multiplayer being dropped is true, it isn't a disaster. As long as the story in the single player is good.
