The standard RPG playable races are Human, Elf, Dwarf. I could list of examples but anyone who has heard of a fantasy based RPG knows what I mean.

I would like a new RPG with playable races that do not have human faces like the three above. I would like a playable anthro-animal race, for example the anthro-lizard Bangaa.

Egh. It shouldn't really matter what races you can play if the game is enough fun.

Of course, in practice, it matters to role-players, so I guess I enjoy a bit of variety.

A Zerg character in an RPG would kick ass.

Indeed I am, though even a little originality within those races would be nice, I'm tired of Dwarves always being exactly the same as Tolkien's Dwarves and so forth.

I like halfling, Warforged, and half-orc myself. How about you? Want a game where you can play as a wooden robot? Play Dungeons and Dragons Online: Eberron Unlimited.

No. Because almost every time a game tries to use anything aside from those 3 standard races, you just end up with one of those races under a different name. It doesn't matter if their skin is green or if they're animal-human hybrids. If they live in the forest, worship nature, and act like smug pricks, they are just fucking elves.

That's not to say I am opposed to truly new races in fantasy games. In fact, I'd welcome that sort of thing. But we don't have to do away with the 3 standards to get those races, especially when the end result of that is usually just them getting a reskin.

Baldurs Gate 2 had a ton of options, but that seems to be going away. Maybe because they have to put in more work on the models these days, and how they look with all the items?

Morrowind had a few weird options too though, like the cat and lizard people.

It wasn't even that though. You had:

Human
Half-Elf
Elf
Dwarf
Gnome
Halfling
Half-Orc

I'd hardly call seven a ton, though if we're comparing it to the base three then yeah.

while i think its awesome to include them IN games, i am always a human male (99% of the time) and thats what i always will be till the end of my time, so i really dont care about that part too much, although in game i wouldn't mind seeing a bit more diversity i suppose, like mass effect.

Way to load the poll, OP. Truly anybody who is not tired of the Big Three must HATE all other races!

How about "No, I am not tired of them but neither am I adverse to more diversity"?

In some games it is good, but I prefer the games that give you more freedom of choice, that is the way forward for me :)

Im usually a Dwarf. So i dont care if they add more to the standard formula as long they dont get rid of the Dwarves, they kick so much ass. I love everything about dwarves in the games i play/stories i read. I love WoW Dwarves, i love LotR Dwarves, i love Norse Mythological Dwarves...I just rly love them.

We need more bug people! Mantis-men and humanoid wasps! Mandibles and devouring ones mate after sex! RAWR!

It doesn't bother me that they always have those races but it bothers be a tad if those are only races they have. It's like car manufacturers, no matter what model, they will always have a black and white exterior colors, but can you imagine if those were the only colors you could choose from?

Earth Eternal Online lets you play as.... well....Furries...

I would like more variation. I don't mind the human/dwarf/elf thing, it just is unoriginal. I despise races that look like the above three or are hybrids. Why would anyone want to play a half-elf? It's half as bad as being a human.
Animalesk races would be good, like Morrowind. Hell, have 4 legged with two arms people.

Look up EarthEternal. I haven't played in ages, so I don't know how good it is now, or if you like MMOs, but it's main feature is flipping off the standard races. No humans, No elves, No dwarves.

(hint: It gets boring after a while >_>)

LOTS of races too. Lots of animal-based ones, some demons, a clockwork robot-race.. Fun making your character.

EDIT: Ninja'd.
