We do this with our movies also, how appropriate is it then that Gaming movies and movie games are becoming so frequent. And about the "safe" aspect of most main stream games agree, but for every Halo, their is a Psychonauts.MausGMR said:Would I want Coca Cola to rerelease Cola every year with some flashy new packaging and a new name? No I wouldn't, So why should we view this practice as acceptable with our games?
Well for it broke no kind of mold, it was very similar to Farcry but in a different engine. it felt more like a tech demo than anything else. I don't want to be to hard on it however its one of the only truly hard game series out right now, and most mainstream game you can take 14 shots to the head, be OK, then go chill somewhere for a few moments and go get shot a hundred times more.vivaldiscool said:Howso?Lift said:Actually, I thought Crysis was rather bland, BEAUTIFUL, but not all that unique.Banok said:yep. crysis, nuff said.
What about Brutal Legend, Mirror's Edge, Dead Space? Or the fact that they aren't needlessly rushing subsidiary companies like Bioware? Sure the quality of those game is subject to opinion, but they have taken some healthy risks for giving developers creative elbow room. They're also backing out of DRM.Claidheamh_Righ said:Companies like EA are takign over small companies and pushing for faster releases and stuff to make money, not to make quality games. Game, like back in the old days consisted of both terrible and excellent, bad and good, and average. The industry just looks different on the outside these days.
