current games that are visually at the top are really what i thought the current gen would be roughly limited to, i mean ME2 or GOW3 will be amazing but trying to top that would be hard, so now the top has been reached more work will be put into gameplay until the next console.
but yes too much work into graphics i think, it is important but not as much as gameplay!

also it varies on the game, for e.g. if its all about the atmosphere then visuas are more important e.g. bioshock(not saying the gameplay is bad at all but that for it its visuals are important)

As long as you can get moments of good voice acting in there an interesting storyline (doesn't have to be as deep as the ocean, just has to be interesting) and quality controls I don't care all that much about graphics. For example Gun had some pretty shoddy graphics in places but its cut scenes had some real impact and awesomeness to them which I havn't found in too many games (only cost me $10 as well, worth it imo). In that game there is a scene where a bunch of guys burst into the saloon and with uber reflexes you leap the bar while also drawing your gun under heavy gun fire, the graphics arn't great but the scene is short but fun to watch. Also I want to know where the point is when game graphics take so long to do that even if they released another Halo the sales would only be able to match the amount of money you payed to your animators in hours, rather than turning a profit.

good game is always a good game. but with awesome production values it's an awesome game.
