I believe that humans are born with a scale with both good and evil balanced at 50%, everytime that person does something good the balance shifts to the good side. when they do something bad the balance shifts to the evil side

when the person dies depending on the balance of their soul determins if they go to heaven or hell.

and stuff...

Have you ever met a baby or small child?

They're monsters.
Yeah religious discussions aside, no one needs to teach a child to be an ass, that comes naturally. Respect/kindness/patience/virtue/etc., those need to be learned.

I'd say they are al born equal, it's the way that they are raised that changes them for good or for evil...

Children are born totaly devoid of any concept of morality. I don´t think anyone would question that. Without these concepts, they just do what is natural: Ensure their own survival.
This can come across as evil, becaus it is uncaring and selfish, but it can not be called that, because for someone to be that, they need a concept of what their doing.
A dog that bites you is not evil either, and babys are like animals in their behaviour.

When they grow some kind of morality, and continue to be assholes, yes, then they are obviously assholes ;-)

Aside from possible social and psychological issues.... neither. The societies and religious views of the culture you are raised in will determine who you turn out to be. Not exactly 100% of the time now, but usually.

I don't know for the bulk of humanity, but I am pretty sure Bobby Kotick was born with pure malevolence in his veins.

I'm not sure, its quite an interesting topic. Am I 'evil' because I was born so? Or was it my upbringing that turned me into a bitter loathing pr***?

I think we are be born with a pre-disposition to 'good' or 'evil' (I dont believe in the terms), but it is our experiences that define us as people.

Evil... from a slightly scientific perspective.

Children don't develop empathy for quite a while, that's why you get toddlers that are like "WHY CAN'T I HAVE EVERYTHING" and kicking and screaming when they don't have it their way.

Without parenting they'd naturally grow up to be twats, as is evident with a lot of kids these days.

I think that Morals are a learned value, but to begin with we have instincts, and those instincts might make them seem a bit evil at times.

Tabula Rasa.

Never heard the term but it fits the best, we arent born evil or good. We're born Human and we move on from there.

No such thing as either good or evil, both subjective.
It's just something to label people with depending if they agree or disagree with your ideals.
I hate the word evil, seems to be mostly used by extremists.

I do believe that humans are born with natural instincts such as generosity, care towards others and other "good/bad" traits which have been seen in other animals too.
What defines the person however, is what their upbringing and experiences in life have been.

There is no "scale" in my opinion.
