Here in America (specifically New York) I try my hardest in school and get high moderate to Good grades (amazing in Social Studies. :D) but I noticed many, seem to not give a damn in the world and just hang about, getting drunk, getting low grades, talking when teachers talk, just overall just not seeming to care that High School will have effect on their lives.

Many skip classes, go about doing stupid things, and just never seem to get the memo that they aren?t going to be successful. I school has made these PSA things about staying in class, doing work, etc, and while they?re cheesy, there true.

No matter it seems how much they push that school is important, it seems like many kids just don?t care and then walk away with their pants slightly down and thinking they?re ?gangster.? It just sickens me and I almost fear for our generation.

I can?t speak from experience but I assume it?s not as bad in foreign countries.

Do you mean granted? I really don't understand what the poll is asking otherwise...

And no. There have always been people that didn't appreciate why they were forced to go to school.

I don't know, how many schools are made of granite?
Pretty sure the title is a clear joke. He's talking about a lack of education, then makes a clear and obvious error.

OT: Yeah, you're definitely right. Although, in Australia, university is actually fairly easy to get in to. I guess the school I went to (private school) had a higher standard of effort amongst the students, but there were still a lot of slackers.

Wow. Kids must be bad nowadays if they mistake a school with granite.
OP: Yes, a lot of them do.

I live near Aberdeen in Scotland, which used to house a major granite quarry. It's fair to say that most students can make the assumption that the schools are, in fact, made out of granite.

I hope that that's a joke, though. I really do.

I'm pretty sure no one takes schools for GRANITE. Maybe they take it for GRANTED though. I don't know. I think it's a bit in between really.

Re-title the thread and then I'll post a proper response. Laughing too hard.
I voted "Yes", because I think I know what you mean... Otherwise, "this". :p

(Though I do have this feeling that it's an ironic title as opposed to accidental-mistake title... o_O )

First, it's taken for granted, not granite. Second, High-School, and I assume that's what your talking about, isn't all that important. Even if you barely pass, you can usually get into a state school, and after a year, you can transfer to pretty much any college you want(assuming you do well that year). If you don't go to college, your grades pretty much won't matter at all, just the diploma.

High-School sucks, they don't teach you much of anything. I'm not kidding, the university I went to had a mandatory freshmen seminar where they basically told us that half of what we learned in high school was wrong, and the other half was useless. Three years later, I can't really argue.

The main purpose of high-school is to keep teenagers occupied and out of their parents hair until they turn 18. It really isn't any good at all for educating people. If it was, there wouldn't be so many ignorant people out there.

I attend school to gain an education and enter university but i can understand the rocky allure of the guys who attend only for granite.

Most you learn in highschool is useless to an individual, you'll be pursuing one career and a broad curriculum won't do you much good in the long run. Though the grades are necessary to enter university. In the UK we only have to do 3 subjects in the final 2 years of school.

Between your thread title and the grammatical errors in your post, I'm going to go with this being a witty and ironic social commentary.

And while some people value school less than they should, others value it too much now.
