I play a lot of games for the Wii. As you can imagine, I have to deal with the 'hardcore' calling the console nothing but a giant minigame collection machine. While anyone with a brain knows that is false, I have to ask a question: who says minigame collections are bad?

I've enjoyed many minigame collections like the Wii Sports series, Wii Fit, Raving Rabbids, and Mario Party. The way I see it, they're just another genre of gaming with good and bad offerings.

Sturgeon's Law. 90% of everything is crap. There are good ones and bad ones. It's just that simple.

Well, those are the GOOD minigame collections. There are plenty of bad minigame collections for the Wii, which is probably why the "HARDCORE GAMERS FUCK YEAH 360 AND BBQ AND SPORTS GAMES AND BEER YEAH!" guys think the Wii is shitty. But there are plenty of GOOD Wii minigame collections out there. None come to mind... but they're out there.

A) That wasn't the topic at hand, B) What do you mean 'legitimately'?

you honestly think Halo 2-497 deserve those ratings?
Microsoft pays off the reviewers, even if there really arent glitches to ***** about

Well... that's certainly an opinion.

when does a direct remake of a game that comes out within 24 months excluding Madden games ever get a rating better then its predecessor excluding possibly the rare Silent Hill 2 and actually be as fun as its predecessor

No offense, but do you know what you're talking about anymore?

No, not at all. They can be fun and even intuitive: look to some of the Warioware games and the early Mario Party games. Problems are...

1. These are usually made for a casual audience, and are thus made more for money than to actually make a good game. And games with such a focus problem almost always suck.

2. It takes more creativity than one might think. You have to figure out how to adapt controls to many, many different activities: a minigame collection with only a few activities is no fun. But because of this, more control schemes are needed for these games than most other genres ever need.

3. You have to make sure that for each different activity, there is a different control scheme. Otherwise you end up with what I call the "Mario Party Effect," where everything is done by jamming the A button as fast as possible. It's no fun when you have to do the same thing to fish, drive, fight, run, etc...

So yeah, it is possible to make a good minigame collection. It's just that most people don't understand how much skill and creativity actually has to go into it, and many of them don't care: they just want to milk the casual gaming population for all it's worth. It's possible, it's just really, really rare.

im asking you, find me a game from one of the 5 (EA, Activition, Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo) main companies where its sequel is as good as, if not better then its predecessor. and blizzard doesnt count because they havent made a non-mmo in 6 years.

and this cant be your opinion, this has to be legitimate. and you cant use Halo or Mass effect either because those are paid reviews

Firstly, if I'm judging a sequel's quality, it is my opinion. Qualitative analysis is nothing but opinion. And once again, you use the term 'legitimate'. What that translates out to me is 'only if I say so'. There is no reason for me to participate, because anything I say you will declare a 'illegitimate'. I'm not going feed the troll today.

have you compared the 3.25 halo games? they are virtually fucking identical except in Halo 1 you get bored waiting for the assault rifle to kill something

Are you forgetting Mario Party? Yes you are!
No, I mentioned it.
I have to admit...I didn't read the OP, I just went by the title, sorry for wasting your time. :(

Mini-game collections are fun for a while but only if you have friends to play with, they can't stand up to solo play like regular games.
