My general policy is don't risk it. I don't really buy into it to much, but there is shit you just don't fuck with.

It's dangerous only in as much as it plays into people's fears, superstitions and gullibility. While I don't think anyone can rule out the paranormal in general, I have great trouble having any faith in something that is still a trademarked board game.

It's not spirits you're communing with - it's just your own subconscious, through a well-documented phenomenon known as the psychomotor effect.

EDIT: If you're shopping for board games anyway, by the way, both Scrabble and Trivial Pursuit are great fun. So, y'know, they're more fun, more plausible, and much better value for money. Go for them instead. ;-)

Well at least it's better than that "old age" crap that constantly spews hate-filled fanatics that wave signs and act like it's the 17th century all over again.

"Gasp! You're wearing white after labor day! WITCH!!!" *throws Bible* -_-

I don't even know why it's called "New Age" since Wicca is actually a different word for Paganism, and that pretty much was the first religion to have existed, and we gleefully celebrate one of their holidays every year. Which kind of makes Christians hypocritical and egotist because they claim it as a holiday of their origins. When it clearly is NOT. But that's why religion is flawed.

No danger. Demons don't like going near people that use them, just incase they have a fetish for being possessed.

YES!! But as said many times before it depends on how hard you hit someone with it.

PS. Scared easily? Type 3AM in the Escapist chat and read the stories!

This thread delivers.

Sad but true: I have a friend who's afraid of the damn things. Ugh.

OP as has been pointed out, no they are not dangerous. Treat it like a cheaper but less effective scary film, though you might be disapointed.

I never believed they were real until I used one, then weird stuff started happening to me and my roommate. I didn't believe in the supernatural for a while, but so many weird things happened (felt something laying on top of me at night, seeing flashes of blue light, hearing creepy songs come through my speakers when the computer was on sleep mode and pandora was off) that I am now almost inclined to believe it's all real

But that's just me, I still like to believe there's no such thing as ghosts, but if that stuff was all in my head, I must have some kind of superpower, cause I saw and heard stuff all the time after using that ouija.
those things probably happened before, but you never thought anything of them. It's the whole "full moon" syndrome, things can happen and you ingore it...but god forbid it happens on a full moon and people get their panties in a twist about the ominous effects of the full moon.

The first one is sleep paralysis, happens to me almost every morning and it's hilarious. Second one happens a lot too, and the third I would guess is just radio noise?

Depends on the Christians.
I guess it's different in the US, but I've barely met any Christians who weren't aware that all Christian holidays were based on older festivals in order to "promote" Christianity. I don't want to go into detail, but "overtaking" old festivals to make the change from one religion to another smoother was a very common thing throughout history.

As for Wicca, it might be based on older believes but it's still only 60 years old which makes it fairly neopagan in my book.

We should try to start some kind of urban legend about the captchas. I just got "HANKERSON, onolut". Plus, they look wobbly and creepy.

Added bonus: Superstitious people will no longer be able to post. Have you ever noticed how "open mind" means the same thing as "be more gullible and also waste money on stupid crap"?

This, basically.

I've never used one. I prefer scary games to this stuff. Maybe round up your friends and play a nice game of Dead Space instead of this?

Eh, I don't care much about ouija boards, or however you spell it, so I vote "No."

Using a ouija boards, can be dangerous, because you are opening a doorway that you can't always shut, and you can't know what you're letting out. My family owns one, that we inherited, and we don't even go near the thing, because we know the consequences using it could cause.

Our family are sensitive to the paranormal, my mother used to do tarot, but stopped because she was seeing too much, as for me I can sense things that many other people don't seem to notice, and that is a major factor in using those things. The more sensitive you are, the more likely something bad will happen.

Now, I'm not a religious person. I'm more of a buddhist than anything else, but I do believe that these things can be dangerous.

They're definitely dangerous. All those sharp corners could take somebody's eye out.

And if you dropped that lens you'd have broken glass everywhere.

You know what. If you think about it in terms of it's "intended" purpose it's about as harmful as receiving a text message from beyond the grave.

But now all I can think about is that scene form Paranormal Activity. I'm going to sit in a corner and crap my pants now....

My friends and I tried one once really late one night with a bunch of candles lit around us. We ended up using it to spell out long and inappropriate words because we were so bored.

Tried doing it years ago, mum and sister went apeshit, didn't bother since. This might sound sexist to some, but I can't help but feel that the fairer sex buy into the paranormal far more easily than men. Can't understand the rationale behind thinking that using playing cards and a glass is going to help you speak to the dead, that's right up there with there being a God that has a best-seller out telling everyone exactly how he wants them to pretend to live 'their own' lives.

I suppose the only possible danger caused by one would be that it may convince gullible people of stupid things
