I may be wrong (I'm actually checking right now) but the Augmented Edition is the collector's edition. It also contains everything from both pre-order bonuses and then some.
but alas...no figurine :/

Maybe if I have the extra money, which is never, I would buy a special edition. I wish I bought the inFAMOUS 2 special edition. A backpack with the sly logo and a cole figurine?

Sign me up.
the cole figurine is awsome, the backpack is cool but I really wish I had more use for it (because its cool)

It depends on the game, and what comes with it. I wouldn't get a collector's edition of a game I wasn't absolutely fanatical about getting and I wouldn't get it if it didn't come with some cool stuff.

So far I've only got...

The Fallout: New Vegas CE, since it came with a comic (I love me some comics) and a DVD that was interesting to watch

And I'll be getting the Deus Ex: HR Augmented Edition because I can't resist game soundtracks and the art book sounds nice.

CE enticing you with in-game content can go die in a hole. I want some cool shit that I can use outside of the game.

I'm going to say it depends. I bought into the special offer with Rage pretty much at a coin-toss decision.

It all depends on what the extras that are coming with the game. Most of the time it's a 'no' since it's normally something like an art book and a dvd on how the game is made, and maybe a soundtrack.

Now, I bought inFamous 2's collector edition and that was the best CE I've ever bought, a Cole statue and a replicate of his backpack, among some other goodies, so that's an awesome CE.

Skyrim's CE is expensive and really, while I do love art books, the only thing that makes me kinda wanting to get it is the dragon statue. I just think the while the stuff may be cool, the price is also a make or break for me.

When it comes to special editions of games it depends on the content if it is free DLC or something physical like a figure or some gimmicky thing connected to the game I am more inclined to go for it. But if it's stuff like a DVD containing a behind-the-scenes documentary or making of game footage I let it pass.

I think it really depends on the content that comes with the collector's edition. What usually tends to sell me on buying a collector;s edition is if it comes with the game's soundtrack and some physical items too like a statue.

The only collectors edition of anything I've bought was the Mafia II collectors edition and that was because Mighty Ape (NZ online store) was selling it cheaper than the normal version.

Some of them are. Going to buy my first Collector's Ed game this year with Space Marine and hopefully it's worth it.

When I said some of them are, I meant that some have useless in-game cosmetics and drawer-fillers while others have things that you will treasure for the rest of your life. Referring to the wonderful-statue? thing that Reach's Legendary Ed came with.

And also, referring to the beastly Starcraft 2 Collector's Ed.

Yeah I know, I'm going to get the game eventually, but there's a freaking dragon statue!! I'm wondering though if anyone is gonna sell that off on ebay soon after.

Hmm....

PAL regions have a CE with a figure in.
meh, I've never been interested in the toys included in collector's editions. I've always been a sucker for soundtracks but I learned my lesson when I bought the CE for Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2.

In my opinion Deus Ex will have the best CE extras out of any CE that has ever come out (in America at least, Japan always gets the best stuff). The augmented edition comes with content that enhances and adds to the game-play experience. It comes with extra tools, weapons and an extra mission. To top it off, the price will be around $80 unlike most other CEs that are $100. I'll take extras like that over a figurine or a soundtrack any day.

Depends on the extra and what you personally value. For me it's usually not worth it. What interests me are the artbooks and making of but the figurines and shit that usually comes with these things I could'nt care less about.

Worth it for the stuff they throw in? No, pretty much never. Undersized plastic stuff that just looks awful most of the time, and a few extras with an art book or behind the scenes which is usually available on youtube anyway.

Worth it to support a company bringing you an excellent game? Yes, definitely. Just wish they wouldn't waste resources on ridiculous, annoying extras that are just going to rot away.

I am surprised that America isn't getting the Deus Ex: Human Revolution Collector's Edition. I like the stuff that comes with the Augmented Edition but I would rather buy the Collector's Edition but since I live in America I can't. Was there ever a reason given why they are not releasing the CE here?

I am a collector, and my obsession just so happens to be games. I don't even bother with physical copies anymore unless it comes packed with a range of goodies (figurines, cards, maps and coins are my preferred choice of extras).

The result of that is an apartment that has video game collectibles perched on every possible free surface. I like it that way. Looking forward to my most recent aquisitions to be released: SWTOR CE, Gears 3 Epic edition and Deus Ex CE. I should add Skyrim to the list, just need to find some time to drop by Gamestop to place the order.

Epic justice? Used to be us poor Europeans were left out of the loop. Back then I had to raid Ebay to get my fix.

Huh, just looked up the European Limited Edition of Deus Ex and the only notable difference is the toy. Interesting. It could not have been that much harder, or cost more money, just to toss the toy in the box. However, since that was not done, then maybe the opposite of my assumption is true.

Was there ever a reason given why they are not releasing the CE here?
If there ever is a reason as to why they make that kind of decision, it is rare when that reason is ever divulged to the public.
