So long as they are enjoyable I don't care for the subject matter. Admittedly I love World War 2 but I grow tired of all the games about it unless they are good.

Oh yeah they do. It's not original anymore.
And most games ARE Original these days?
Well,Borderlands or Brutal Legend are more original than Call of Duty N: Random subtitle.
Borderlands, "RPG set in the future in a Barren Wasteland"
Takes alot of Ideas from Fo3, which is a good thing.
Yet you can only list 1 Original title.
Okay, let me rephrase that: post-apocalyptic FPS-RPG with cel-shaded graphics and randomly generated weapons is surely more original than YET ANOTHER CALL OF DUTY.

I'd rather play a dingy WW1 game than another WW2 game.

In fact, give me a WW1 RPG over another WW2 FPS any day. And I hate RPGs. Usually.

They're good, no one denies that, but it goes down the same road as the Final Fantasy saga, regardless of how many new implementations they put into them, the theme is always the same. Sure, they're still fun, but it would be nice to have one of the spanish civil war. Or one were you actually played as the bad guys for once. God damn those unambiguous game developers ¬¬

No, I'm sorry but firing an M1 Garand, MP44, or PPSh never gets old. Neither does killing Nazis. Much like killing zombies, it never gets old, ever.

Of course not! How could you possibly get tired of the Normandy invasion which almost always rips off the intro to Saving Private Ryan? And how could you get tired of fighting your way up the same damn corn field to destroy the same damn machine gun nest which is placed on the same damn dirt road which leads to the same damn town with the same down church tower with the same damn sniper which shoots the same damn soldier which then causes everyone to freak out the same damn way which then leads to you holding off the same damn nazis which the same damn guns while you wait for the same damn tanks to come and save your ass.

NO MORE DAMN WWII GAMES!!!! Seriously I could do that for every single mission in every single game that is about WWII.
Normandy Invasion that rips off Savin Private Ryan? how else did they Invade by sea? Do you want to see them Swim from their Ships to the beach?
Also that is pure hyperbole there, many WWII games feature Variety in Missions, like having to take over key German outposts in a town, freedom of which to tackle the number of Objectives.
True they usually have an average variety but I would say 75% of WWII games have that one mission where you go through a German town with a church and with a sniper in it and usually Timmy runs out in the middle of the street his head bursts into blood and somebody screams sniper. And what I mean with the ripping off of SPR bit is that it seems every time you go in with the landing boat usually someone throws up then you get just about there and something explodes you have shell shock your brave sarge pulls you out and you stare at the gruesome scene until you get your senses back. However with the normandy invasion I will admit what I usually think about is COD2 because up until you have to climb the mountain it damn well near mirrors the movie.

And by the way, hyperbole is fun. It got your attention. However I could probably do that with a whole bunch of them because they all follow that same formula which is the inherant problem with WWII games. All of it has been done before sometimes good sometimes bad but it never the less has all been done before.

More tactical RTS then RPG but there is inventory management and you can control a single soldier third person like. Probably the closest you will get. Unless you had something in mind then I am at a loss.

I can't have been the only one who raised a smirk at the notion that games set over 60 years ago were getting old, can i?
Edit: apparently not.

There arent enough WW1 games! Although the strategy would probably be:
Sit in trench,Sit in trench,Sit in trench,Sit in trench,Sit in trench,FIRE!...Sit in trench,Sit in trench,Sit in trench,Bombs! Run! Die!...Get more troops,Sit in trench,Sit in trench,Sit in trench,Sit in trench,...(Excellent usage of the copy/paste buttons FTW!)

The problem is lack of new Ideas. DOnt get me wrong you are limited by the subject matter, But games like BF1943 we're a breath of fresh air onto the console market.

Theres so much more left to see of "the Horrors of WW2", that hasnt been broken down into Nazi Killing Goodness.

Hells yea I'm tired of them. A lot of wasted potential in those games. I tried the Order of War demo and the gameplay seemed very smooth and interesting, but the whole game theme ruined it for me. I got some Ground Control vibes from the gameplay, which is totally great.

Yes. Yes. YES. By all that is Holy, YES!

I understand that with America fighting in another messy police action(I will not dien to call it a war. Wars require at least 2 militaries to fight, not stomping on the equivalent of a crippled kid in the schoolyard), we as a people need to hide our disillusionment at what our government has become by reliving the glory days.

My advice to the American people: Get over it. Yeah, our government sucks, we elected them to suck. We collectively voted to place dishonest assholes in positions of power, and now we reap what we sew. Don't try and think back to when America was the white-hat cowboy, riding in to the rescue to defeat the dirty krauts, things are not that black and white anymore, if they ever were.

Call of Duty and Medal of Honor are just egging it on. And seriously, I would like to play at least ONE game in which the machine guns didn't recoil like ass.

For the most part, WW2 is over-used. But what other wars could be plundered in the name of entertainment?

World War 1 - Too much sitting about in the trenches.
Korean War - Could provide some scope for education, but it'd be too similar to WW2 in terms of content and weaponry.
The Gulf Wars - Perhaps a little too fresh in people's memories. But could also provide some interesting "Man's inhumanity to man" moments. (Though a game based upon Bravo Two Zero would be cool.)
