I'm curious about the fanbase for a few companies lately, so if this remains civil I hope I can make a few more threads like this based on other companies like Bethesda and Square Enix and the like.

There's a lot of reasons to hate a company. Just as many reasons to remain neutral towards it and like it (sometimes that's not always the case). Bioware has been getting a huge PR hit lately and though I have my qualms with Bioware, I don't think I'm really in the hate category. Not until they truly become like EA (my feelings for EA are explained well with the "Extra Credits: Open Letter to EA" episode).

That being said, are you a fan of Bioware? Do you just like the games? Do you hate even reading the word "Bioware"?
There's legitimate reasons for whatever your feelings are, but how do you feel about Bioware?

I became a fan with the first Mass Effect. I've played BG2 and KOTOR, but didn't really find them appealing to me.

I like them well enough until one of the higher ups says something stupid and ticks me off. They aren't my favorite company, but they are pretty good.

I liked BioWare much better before ME1. Sure, I like Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age, but I didn't like Dragon Age 2 or Mass Effect 1 that much (Mass Effect 1 was really interesting, it's just that it felt like a chore playing the game).

KOTOR and the Baldur's Gate games are the BioWare games that are my favorites, and they are much better written than their current games (Okay, I'll admit KOTOR was pretty cliched, but this was before it was obvious BioWare was just using the same character archtypes and basic plots over and over in their games).

Nowadays, I prefer Bethesda and Obsidian for RPGs.

Out of your poll options, classic BioWare fan is most like me. I've been a fan since Knights of the Old Republic, but haven't played Baldur's Gate or Neverwinter Nights (I'll give those a go the next time I get a new computer). I've honestly loved every game of their's that I've played (which is everything from KotOR on, minus the Sonic game).

Hardcore fantastic almost. Got hooked on the KOTORs, but have played nearly everyone single one since. Jade Empire, Dragon Age 1 and 2 and Mass Effect 1 and 2

Mass Effect 2 is probably the best game i've played to date.

Mass Effect is my favourite game series ever so even if every other game they made was carp(which they aren't)I would still be a mega fan.

Kinda just like what they do (sometimes); Bioware has made quite a few games I liked;
KOTOR (1 of my top 10 of all time)
Jade Empire (despite bugs/data corruption rendering it unplayable after a while)
Mass Effect (1 of my top 10 of all time)
Dragon Age: Origins (I liked it a bit, but it was for me just an above average, but not great game)
Mass Effect 2

TOR looks good, but I'll reserve saying its actually good or not till after its out (will need to trial it before I commit though)
All Mass Effect 3 needs to do is be at least half as good as its predecessors and it'll be a decent game; I would suspect it will be more.

I'll admit right now that I NEVER played Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights or Dragon Age 2 and considering what I've heard of the latter, probably for the best.

I'm a half-old school fan, only really started paying attention around KOTOR. They have a good track record and I respect what they do a lot. But they seem to have a lot of ambition but not much innovation. Well, I guess TOR is innovation, but not in the direction I was hoping for. For example, the basic Bioware game level layout hasn't changed since KOTOR. They've fiddled with perspective a bit with Mass Effect, but I wish they would try a FPV RPG for kicks.

Still my second favorite game developer, after Bethesda of course.

...

Ok, I'm being disingenuous. I just want a Bioware game on a Bethesda engine, IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK *breaks into tears*

Back when I first played KOTOR, I didn't really fuss over the companies that made the games - I was really only interested in the games themselves. I don't think it was till I played Dragon Age Origins I took an interest in Bioware as a company.

I'm a fan of Bioware's games. Though I've only actually played DA and ME, I have heard of their others and either just never had a chance to play them (BG, JE) or avoided them because I didn't like the source material (KOTOR). Basically, I quite like what they do but I'm not some slavish fan who will buy anything just because it's made by Bioware.

I've played everyone of their games since KOTOR (except the Sonic game and DA2) and I've loved them all. I don't really feel there's a spot for me on the poll.

I'm probably between A1 and A2. Nver played BG, just started on NN, played everything else and more or less loved it (I'm looking at you, DA2!). Although weary of the future games, I'll still shell money on Bioware wares until they produce something really repulsive.

I fell in love with them when I played Neverwinter Nights, and I felt heartbroken when they let Obsidian make the sequel.
