Poll: Are you a different person on the Internet?

I think a better question would be, are you a different person in real life? On the internet we can all show who we really are because we wear a mask. I hate to bring Superman into this but he fits almost perfectly into what I am trying to get across. Superman's real self is him when he is in his costume fighting evil, not when he is dressed up like the rest of us. We can act however we want on the internet without real fear of judgment. If someone flames you, you can just ignore them or report them over the internet.

In real life, my outer appearance stops me from being this kind of person, which drives me nuts. On the Internet, the ones you talk with gain respect by your intellect or your wits, while in real life, most of the first respect and impression comes from the persons outside, which is a sad fact.

This is true.

Also, on the Internet, it is much easier to come off as intelligent. You can spend hours formulating a post to near-perfection, looking up every fact and making sure your argument is flawless. This is an impractical process in real life.

Until computers continue to shrink into the size of small chips implanted in our brains with Internet faster than lightning, so we can google everything and give snappy comments at the same rate of cheap American comedians pulling bad jokes.

As if I'm different on the internet? I guess. I'm a lot more confident. And I take up discussions with everyone. In real life it's kinda hard to disagree with a stupid twat that's twice the size of you, and has muscles in his arms weighing more than you. I have bad memories with disagreeing with those people, so I don't tend to do so unless I'm out of reach

I'm not a different person on the internet in a sort of able to open up and show what a beautiful butterfly I am deep down thanks to a more open environment, because I think I do a fairly good job of acting like I really am in real life.

But I do like to consciously mess around with the freedom of anonymity, I often act wildly differently to my normal behaviour to see what it's like or how people react (and no, that does not usually manifest itself in the form of trolling or being generally obnoxious). I also have a thing of intentionally giving the impression that I'm a girl without ever actually saying I am, but maybe that's because people are nicer to you when they think you're a girl for some reason. That reason being they think you might have sex with them presumably.
