Hmm... No. I've played alot of MMOs but never once been called a noob. Could be because of the way I talk, which leads some people to think I use too many "difficult" words. My attitude with people who call others "noobs" is might be a reason as well. Its elitism, and just plain wrong. Would they be so blatantly crude to these people if they were standing face to face with them?

Well, if they would, I might have to ask them to step outside and challenge them to fisticuffs.

Yep I am a n00b. I don't spend every free moment mastering a map or learning a single character's special move. I don't care about leaderboards or my K/D ratio. I am quite happy if I manage to squeak out a win in an online game (which is very rare). Although at least 1 person will drop out the moment I take the lead. The only thing I care about is having fun.

This is why I don't play team based matches (TDM CTF ect) I don't want my lack of skills to ruin anyone else's experience

I may not be good at games but I don't intentionally act like an idiot or a newbie so no, I am not a noob.

everyone is a n00b once in a while, I recently joined my friends server, he's been pestering me to try WOW for ages so I've given it a go.

Controls, races, classes, gamer interface - it's all new, so while I'm happy enough with running from one place to another or using 'attack' not getting my imp set appropriately during an instance caused continual frustration for my fellow players.

I am a WOW n00b, but SC L33t - it's just the way the cookie crumbles

Once on a forum of an MMO I was playing there was a heated discussion about noobs and newbies.

We defined noob as an idiot player who was doing what was generally thought incorrect or wrong, and was claiming he was in the right, not willing to listen to reason all that stuff.

And newbie who was a new player, which was willing to learn and stuff.

But then again, maybe those distinctions aren't recognized world over.

Still, everyone is a n00b (notice my change in spelling to differentiate from noob, and my last time writing leet speak seriously) or newbie when they first start a game. If we were all good from the get go, the games would lose all challenge.

give me a fps and woila..

It never fail.
In each and every shooter that include multiplayer i tend to fail miserably.
When everyone can do quadruple backflips and hit my head from the other side of the map, I tend to miss at their very entity when they stand one armlengt away from me...

wait... i generaly fail at any game come to think of it xD

I like to play games, but hate to get 100% involved in it.

I've experienced noobishness at various points in my life. Initially it was when I was first learning how to even play video games when I was about 5 or 6. Then it was when I started playing FPSs and I got owned by everyone. Now I've pretty competent at just about any genre of game, but sometimes have noob moments when I'm still learning some wacky new mechanics introduced by a game. Guitar Hero made me feel like a total noob for a while.
