By traitor I mean someone who buys a console (or PC) then regrets their choice and procedes speaks down against their platform.

I used to own a PC that could be considered decent for gaming, however after getting sick of WOW and owning it for a few years I soon tired of missing out on console exclusives,, and the problems that come from a platform without standardized specs. I wound up hating on PC gaming. However currently I own a mac, and while I liked owning a mac for the first 90 days, once games like tf2 came out I immediately turned coat and started hating on macs and apple. On the other hand I currently game mostly on Xbox 360 and PS3 (using gamefly). I tend to defend both of these consoles. however I also bought a Wii (off of my friend for <100$) and I tend to flame it. So I guess I would fall under the category of "I defend a platform I own when it deserves it".

Are you a traitor?

Funny.
I didn't know that game consoles were now subject to being measured the same as people and countries. Isn't that usually the only things you can betray?

Slight comment aside, I only "flame" on a console I own if it is for a good reason. I'm sure a great majority of Xbox 360 owners know what I'm talking about.

I was trying to make a metaphorical comparison.

Not really. I tend to stay away from the console wars. You know, to keep my dignity.

But I do give out my opinions. So even though I have a Ps3, I have admitted to only using it occasionally and less than my xbox, or preferring my keyboard over my controller, or preferring my couch over a chair.

So I guess partially.

I leave with an ancient Greek proverb

"Many have loved treason, none the traitor."

Wait what?

OnT: No not really. If a platform deserves the hatin' then I'll hate on it.

I tend not to flame anything, game or console wise, unless I have solid, valid reasons to back it up, even then, I just disagree with it, I dont insult people or the game/console in question like most flamers do. I never have flamed PS3s, just because they have some good titles, such as Heavy Rain, Resistance, and MAG (never played any, so Im going on sales). However, I do defend games that are ridiculed for the most stupid of reasons, such as Halo.

So, Im not anything, I dont give loyalty to consoles or games, I like them, but I wouldnt disrespect someone because they disagree with me. Thats just stupidity that I will have no part in

'Traitor' is a very strong word to use...
Especially in such a small case such as this.
No, a Traitor is someone who you fight alongside for years, and trust. Then they betray you and go against you.
Hard to consider doing this with consoles as being a 'traitor'.
I know the weaknesses of the systems I use. I prefer to see it as 'criticism'.
No, I am not a 'Traitor'. I am a Loyalist.

well, since you have all of the platforms, that makes you an informed flamer, those who have never played the system they are bashing have no right to complain

I... I do hope you are using the term jokingly.

Anyway, I never have called any console not worth having, so no. I don't really flame my own consoles either, mostly because I don't want to make myself feel bad about spending several hundred euros on something.
I do complain about the lack of quality games overall and Sony's slowpokes not making PSN half as awesome it could be (you know, if NA/European stores had even nearly as good selection of PS1 games as the Japanese). And Sony trying to cater to the iCrowd instead of gamers.

Actually scratch that, I'm pretty much as "fuck Sony" as anyone else.

Guess I'm not a traitor, I bought my xbox, ps3, and pc for sound entertainment reasons and haven't had any regrets. If I bought a wii I might become a traitor, but thankfully everyone I know bought one and showed me its waggle crap gimmick, so no chance of that here.

I don't care enough to argue about game consoles that are "superior". Apples and oranges.

You're just flatout fickle.

As far as gaming machines go, I have a PC, PS3, and Wii, as well as older systems like my PS2 and N64. I tend to appreciate them all equally, recognizing their individual stengths and flaws... with the exception of the Wii. While initially enthusiastic about it, the complete drought of half-decent titles has caused me to shun the system. Did I betray Nintendo? NO! Nintendo has betrayed US!
