I pretty much go for Normal, or in some games hard if it's like the real normal. Easy is joke, but I don't play games often enough to be well-practiced and don't have the time to constantly restart at the uber-hard difficultys.

I think the only game where i've dreaded a higher difficulty was Moder Warfare. Not so much the game as a whole, just the end to that sniper mission. Dear god that level is impossible, im still stuck on it. >.<

Scared? Nah. Even though a giant swarm of blood crazed orks invade my base, I keep my cool.

No. I like to play a game on the next difficulty right after I beat it on normal.

No matter what it is.

Even Super Ghouls and Ghosts.

Have you ever played Resident Evil 5 on Pro? It beat beat my ass with a meat tenderizer coated with rubbing alcohol.

That damn platinum trophy better be worth it...

I know exactly what you mean. I bruised my knuckles from punching random objects in my house playing that game on insanity.

Well, it depends on the game.
I usually do the highest difficulty setting just for the sake of trying it out, but then I just shift to normal after the torrent of deathcams.
In games that I'm just not good at, though [ Final Fantasy XIII, for instance, ], I just do normal. Harder settings are just crazy.

No. Playing the harder difficulty tends to be really annoying at first, and even later in the game you'll sometimes find yourselves frustrated. However, if you stick with it long enough, the lower difficulties just seem too easy to be fun.

After beating Mass Effect 2 on insanity, I just couldn't bring myself to lower it for the side missions. Everything just seemed too...easy.

I always play on the hardest difficulty first to get the achievements, then never go anywhere near that difficulty again. I do change it if it gets too hard for me and I can't find a guide that helps me out.

Depends on the game. I tend to not play the higher difficulties when they are just cheap and not just difficult. I'm willing to try harder difficulties, but I will not always play them.

To be perfectly honest, yes, I am. I have enough difficulty with regular difficulty settings as it is.
I'm man enough to admit that while I consider myself a gamer, I also realize that I'm pretty much a n00b. (Actually, I'm a woman, BUT WHATEV.) I still suck at FPSs and can barely stand the level-grinding in RPGs. The only games I seem to be decent at are the puzzle games, surprisingly.
So yeah, I definitly can't handle the harder difficulty settings. I just got into gaming too late in my youth for me to be that good yet. Maybe I'll get there eventually.

Depends. I usually start at the easiest level, especially for high-story games (like AC, Uncharted, Dragon Age etc. Games like Civs, Sims, etc are not). That way I can just enjoy the story and see where it goes. Once I've beaten it, I'll up the difficulty.

As long as there has been proper balance testing and it's not about numbers and percentages and more about skill, I welcome challenge. Poorly balanced games like Ninja Gaiden 2 and Perfect Dark Zero are examples of what not do. If it's so hard it borders or becomes unfair, then it's balanced poorly.

Hard can be fun, unfair is anything but.
