I wouldn't say I'm afraid so much as just annoyed, I dunno, there's not really much more difficulty so much as the computer getting to bullshit it's way through with upped damage and such. I always resented that since it's kinda fake difficulty. Plus, I game for fun not bragging rights, I dunno, higher settings usually just get ridiculously annoying, like Civilization and unbeatable enemy units.

No, I'm not. I always set the difficulty slider for FPS' to the second hardest for my first playthrough and then play it trough once again on the hardest difficulty (which is what I'm currently doing in Bioshock).

The only reason I'm scared of higher difficulty levels is when the game doesn't let you change in the middle. I like to start out on the highest setting, and turn it down if I'm having a lot of trouble (I'm talking 2+ hours trying to get through the same room). However, most games don't let you change, so I've sometimes been worried of starting on the hard setting simply for the fear of putting seven hours or more into a game, and not being able to continue because of the difficulty.

Only a little bit. I don't like constantly dying over and over again. I like to play games on easier levels to just relax a bit.

Usually start on brutal/legendary/awesome god of win difficulty and crank it down if i need to, some games are way more unforgiving than others on the harder difficulties, others are a cakewalk, so, start strong, then fit.

It depends on the game. Usually I play on normal so that there is challenge enough to make it fun but not enough to be frustrating. Second playthroughs ( if I feel like it) are usually on a higher difficulty.

I normally just play a game on the starting difficulty, or normal. If it is way to easy I move up to a harder one, if it is way to hard I go down. Sometimes the higher difficulty isn't harder in the sense that you have to plan more, or be better. You just end up getting killed in ways you can't prevent, which isn't very fun. Sure I like a challange, but being slaughtered by random mobs that should be xp grinds for you isn't all that entertaining.

Lol of course. I don't like dying, and I don't find it much more satisfying to kill people on high difficulties.

Depends on the game. I'm not "afraid" par say, I just tend to avoid those settings when "normal" is challenging.

i prefer to play on the highest difficulty, as its more of a buzz when you complete the game

I'm kind of a lax gamer so I try middle of the road and see where that gets me. If I'm new to the type of game or playstyle I might start out at easy. I actually rarely have the inclination to do harder modes unless I'm given incentive besides "challenging gameplay." Unlockables make me happy.

I am not afraid of higher difficulties, although I usually play my games on Normal. I will sometimes play on the hardest difficulty to get Achievments or Trophies.

I play games mostly for story, and in most games I don't even consider highest setting. I play on normal or hard, when the game has one more setting and I am familiar with gameplay. I leave the hardest setting for those gamers who are to that game what I'm in Hitman.
