As a kid, I was afraid because I've seen the Alien movies. Now I just don't believe in any of that.

Yes I am. It's fear of the unknown coupled with fear of your own imagination. Whenever I'm in a dark room, I imagine all sorts of scary shit and end up terrifying myself

Yep, I sleep with a lamp on.
I'm mostly afraid of uncontrolled darkness, and I have an imagination so random noises don't help.

Depends on how dark, I love the light level of a full moon and am perfectly fine with cave darkness. There's are level between them where you can see, but just barley and since I have cats I often see the shadows moving, even though I can't see my cats. I call their names and they meow so I know it's them but it's still creepy to me, especially if I just watched a horror movie so I think it may not be something else.

Yes and I have been for as long as I can remember..
I always sleep with a light on when I'm sleeping alone and if I'm reaaally freaked out I even turn the tv/radio on.

4 pages in and no-one posts this? Escapist, I am dissapointed in you.

And no, I'm not scared of the dark, it's the axe murderer IN the dark you need to watch out for.

*slowly raises hand*

I always sleep with a light on - always - or I feel uncomfortable. (Power cuts are just the worst kind of *****.) I could go to the bathroom or something in the dark if I had to, but I guess I let my imagination get carried away.

Me and the night-time are cool, though. I like the night. Stars are pretty.

I think I am just a bit.

You will not catch me outside on my own in the dark if I can help it. Especially when there are trees and shrubs around.

Our back yard is practically a big field that stretches out. I do not go out our backdoor at night if I can help it. If I do go, it's usually with someone looking out at me.

There mostly has to be lots of light and more than one person with me. Like, a group and stuff.

It really depends on mine state of mind. I love the night, but at times fear the darkness. To fear might not be the correct word here, uncomfortable sounds better.

No.

Actually I dont know anyone who is afraid OF the dark. I know alot of people my age (18) who are still afraid or at least nervous of whats IN the dark, but not of the dark itself. I've honestly nver heard of someone scared OF the dark without saying after, "Because its dark, ________ could be there" or "because its dark and ____________ might come and get me."

Eh, sometimes I seem to be afraid of it, sometimes I am not.
I'm fine with it, unless I watch a horror movie, or have bad thoughts, and then think I see things out of the corner of my eye.
Then I just hide. If in bed, under the covers, if in the hallway, rush into my bedroom >.>
So... not so much afraid of the dark, as what I cannot see because of the lack of light.
You ninja! I couldn't have said it better.

OT: Sometimes though when that happens I just grab my replica katana when I move...Always make me feel safer...Somewhat.
