Yes, I am. Not as much as I used to be.

Time was I'd be shitting myself if I had to go into somewhere dark and be really hesitant about it. Nowadays, I'm not hesitant about going into the dark, but it still makes me nervous and very apprehensive about it.

Not afraid.

Total darkness is a cool experience. I'll never forget my first spelunking trip when we turned off all our lights.

Not at all, I usually embrace it. But I did go through a period of being afraid of the dark when I was younger. Got over it by trying to determine the sources of every 'bump in the night'. Some people say this wouldn't work, but it certainly broke me out of it.

I'm uncomfortable with the darkness. Not because of the dark itself, more due to the fact it leaves the unexpected shrouded.

I just find not knowing what could be there, what that shadow in the corner could be. That's what scares me, my imagination makes the weirdest things happen in situations like that.

I am, although it might be more panic than fear since it means I don't know where I am. I also have a very vivid imagination and good memory, and while what I feared as a child isn't as scary now it's still present.

But, it's mostly the fear of going blind, rather than fearing the dark itself.

Depends where I am in said darkness, I guess. In my house not so much but if I was like outside in a really dark area I'd probably be a little apprehensive.

Why would I be afraid of the absence of light?

It might help that I can see really well in the dark, but I've never really been that scared of darkness or any other natural phenomenon. Yeah it would kind of suck to be wandering around the woods at night without a light or any means of defense, but under normal circumstances that rarely happens.

I thrive in the dark, I've never really like being in large groups of people, I only cope thanks to being taller than mast people.

When left to myself with time off I always end up being up and about between 8pm and 5am.

The reasons for being afraid of the dark are mostly instinctual, and as such, are actually semi-valid reasons. Most people can't see well in the dark, and it's associated with crime and the otherwise unknown.

To answer the poll though, no, I'm not. I actually prefer the dark.

I practically live in the shadows, with the blinding glow of the monitor in my face, surrounded by an abyss of darkness...

define afraid.

I remember sitting at night on a graveyard bench and just talking to someone, it was okay.

I also have no problem going to take a leak at night without turning on the light.

If I am not at home I prefer at with light but simply because of the reason I might bash into some hard, hardly movable object and fracture on ore two bones. I like my bones.

Sometimes when I am in bed and hearing something and it is dark, I actually do feel afraid and when I am all alone going from a friends place home at 3:30 AM I dont feel comfortable. Like, at all. Last week I was passing the same graveyard I spent some nights talking on, this scared me. Whyever.

But generally afraid? No. Dont think so.

In and of itself, no. Heck, I'm the guy who jokingly hisses when exposed to direct sunlight.

That said, something that IS scary might get moreso in the dark. Depends I suppose.
