Eh, sometimes I seem to be afraid of it, sometimes I am not.
I'm fine with it, unless I watch a horror movie, or have bad thoughts, and then think I see things out of the corner of my eye.
Then I just hide. If in bed, under the covers, if in the hallway, rush into my bedroom >.>
So... not so much afraid of the dark, as what I cannot see because of the lack of light.
This!!! I dont mind the dark when i'm outside in the streets and stuff but when i'm inside i think of whats hiding (in the wardrobe) and get freaked out :')

No, I'm not. I absolutely love the dark. :)

I was always weird I guess because even when I was little I would go into the basement in pitch black and it wouldn't phase me one bit. My little sister on the other hand couldn't even be in her room when it was dark. Had a stupid night light that always irritated me. xD

I'm only afraid of strategic darkness ... I don't like the areas in the dark that I wouldn't normally be able to see in the light. This includes around corners, under objects, inside objects, behind doors, etc. Stairs and hallways also bother me in the dark, as does sitting next to open windows in the dark. Also, basements in the dark are pretty bad.

I don't fear the dark, I fear what I cannot identify. If the light is on, but there is a noise from somewhere in the room and I can't find out what it is, then I might get scared. I don't get scared of being in the dark though, I'm constantly in the dark so that would be foolish.

I'm not scared of the dark. I am, however, worried about the things lurking in it. The devious, wretched creatures whose only design is to feast on pain and suffering of others. They crawl and writhe in the shadows, safe from prying eyes, wallowing in their filth and corruption until they spot their prey, the unsuspecting, the carefree and the unaware. Then they move, slithering across the darkness to snatch their victim, muffling their screams with bile, biting into skin and flesh, each wound festering as it is inflicted. The silent screams of the doomed soul to be heard by no one as his last moments are spent in agony and defilement. And then the things from the shadow return back to the corners and the nooks, where no eye will look for them, waiting for the next one, and the next, and the next...

But of the dark? No, not worried about the dark.

Everyone is afraid of the dark to some degree. You may not have a definitive phobia for it like some people do, but humans are naturally more comfortable in light. While most animals use a healthy mixture of all their senses, I believe we're conditioned to rely on sight much more than any of our other senses, and without light, that sense becomes useless and leaves us much more vulnerable. Anyone who says they're not afraid of the dark is either blind, ignorant, or insecure. Unless you'd rather walk through a forest in pitch black than you would in light, (which nobody here would for any concievable reason) you are afraid of the dark.

I used to be, up until a few years ago.
I'll admit I was still afraid of the dark well into my teenage years, no shame in that. (OK, maybe a little shame.)

Im not afraid of the dark as long as i have an ounce of light to see with.

But being in a place where it's pitch black, then yes...
It's like being blind and damn, its a terrifying thought.

Studies have shown that over 66 percent of all persons over 18 years old is afraid of the dark.
Are you one of them?
Really? What demographic was surveyed to get that result? (genuinely interested about that)

And no, for the most part.

However, when I was 6, I watched Clash of the Titans (the original one, not the new PoS/PoC) alone in the back room with the lights off. Biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig mistake. Couldn't sleep for about a week and it took me years to get over it. I own that film and have rewatched many times, and am still impressed with Harryhausen's handiwork. (oooooh, the scorpions, love the scorpions)

Not even remotely, I love the dark. I feel so at home during night time. The smells, the sounds (and lack thereof), it feels so...private, secure.
I know exactly what you mean. I like night time. It's shame that human race decided to be wake during the day time :p.

But this was not always my opinion. When i was a child my imagination played cruel tricks on me, like when i looked into forest one of the trees looked exacly like a man whit a hockey mask and a large knife moving closely towards me. Lucckily i know thesedays that i'm just imagining those things.

Anyway, i don't belive that most of the people are afraid of dark, more like what can be hiding in it.

I'm not afraid of the dark, I'm just afraid of what's IN it.
