So guys. Be honest about this please. Are you afraid of the dark?

Personally I am. Especially when Im alone at some dark place and I cant see anything. Actually, just the fact that I cant see anything makes me scared. Perhaps Im more scared of blindness than darkness....I dont know.......woow0o0wo.

Anyway. Guys. Please post here if you are afraid of the dark or not. Also guys, does it make it less scary if you're not alone in the darkness? For me yes, like I said. That way I could have someone to talk to and help me.

When I was a kid, I was really afraid of the dark, especially since I was, like 10, when I first saw Alien :D

Now it doesn't scare me at all. I actually find peace in the dark, I love sitting in dimly lit rooms.

I actually feel safer in the dark, as I'm a very visible person with inexplicable stealth tendencies (that never, ever work), so being surrounded by darkness helps me as much as whoever might be out there (unless they have infrared/night vision).

I remember that I stopped being afraid of the dark when I was a kid and saw a thriller where a blind woman was being attacked in her home, and the first thing she did was to destroy lightbulbs/lamps in order to even the playing field.

You sure are making a lot of threads around here, OP.

Anyway: Yes, I am afraid of the dark. Legitimately.

I even have a night-light that I use when I get especially paranoid. Wish I didn't have to, though. :/

I think it's mostly a fear of the unknown, but whenever I'm in pitch black I feel like I'm about to be grabbed by something evil..

Of course not. As long as they have discussion value, you're perfectly fine. =P

Nope. I've got decent night vision and I have an innate ability to move around unseen & unheard. Night and its natural darkness is my favourite time to be awake. The relative quiet and lack of light makes for a much calmer, clearer mind.

I see. And what do you think? Are the threads Ive been creating lately have discussion value?

...Yes?

Am I missing something here? I feel like I'm being interrogated now. D:

Your threads are fine! Carry on, citizen! *swoops away*

'Almost every species in the Universe has an irrational fear of the dark. But they're wrong. 'Cause it's not irrational.'

Sorry, saw that episode again recently. Plus I've got the right badge for it!

Anyway OT: Yeah, I tend to psych myself out when I'm completely alone in the dark. I've got a really active imagination.

Darkness itself, no. I actually prefer it as dark as possible if I'm trying to sleep. That said, I do get paranoid walking around at night outside of well lit areas, but that's more because I don't want to get mugged.

Depending on the location and the situation. Sure I ain't afraid of the dark when I'm in my house but let say out in the woods then I start to think of the game Slender (not scare of the slenderman but being alone in the woods at dark will be scary). The situation depend to like let say there was a intruder in the house in the dark, that would sure scare me too due to the unkown of the intruder.

Well, since you're a moderator its kinda more important for me to hear what a moderator thinks about what I do on the forum than what a normal member thinks. ALso....you mentioned I create a lot of threads, and I was just wondering what did you mention that for. No worries though, I didnt mean to interrogate you.

Oh for sure. I never said I doubt their opinions either, just that I regard a moderator's opinion more important. Which is true, since moderators are the ones aware of the forum rules more than anyone else. Thats also why I asked to be sure if something is wrong with me creating many threads. When you mentioned that, I had a feeling something was wrong. I guess I just jump to conclusions too early eh?

OT: Guys does it change anything to you if theres someone near you in the dark?

Fair enough, it never hurts to ask! :D

Also to your OT: it depends whether I know the person or not. If I know them, I feel a lot safer, if I don't, a lot less safe. o_o

Not at all. I don't particularly like it if it's pitch black and I don't have a light source handy, when I need to move about. Feeling my way across a room, especially one I'm not used to, can just plain be annoying.

It depends where I am. If I am in my own home, or at a friends house, then I don't mind the dark at all. If I am outside and the area isn't very well lit, then I do get quite nervous.

When I was a kid I was, but not anymore.

I work in dark or very dim rooms and at night a lot, so being in dark rooms don't bother me at all.

I think being in the dark is way more comforting and peaceful than being in a very brightly lit room since bright lights give me a headache after a while.
