That Borderlands achievement was a fun one to get, quite imaginative as well compared to the generic 'Go here, shoot this' achievements I'm used to seeing.
Those are the ones I'm more inclined to go out of my way to get. Also the hidden skulls on from Halo 3 was an amusing little sidequest in my opinion, if offered a bit of variety and encouraged scrounging, and I love my scrounging.

That's probably why I don't have any free space in my inventory on FO:NV...

Usually I'm not. But I'd be lying if I said I didn't go out of my way to get the Pacifist achievement in Human Revolution. I think it's the only time I've ever cared about an achievement. Like I said in another thread, I just love the fact that a game made today will give you that option.
To be honest, plenty of people would have done it even without the achievement.

I assume you are one of those people?

I will hunt down an achievement if it's easy or it's an extention of something I already do/enjoy doing in the game.

eg. If there's an achievement for getting 10 headshots in a row, I'll try for it, because I go for them anyway, and it's a cool achievement.

If there's an achievement for being a douche or something I find boring or unfun I don't bother.

OT: New Vegas really opens up after you mod your inventory to accomodate an extra 10000 in weight... (that is easily the best mod available, with maximum stats and special falling into second place*)

I will 100% a game when there is new content to discover, which achievements are not.

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light had it down perfectly, every goal / achievement came with either a new gun or upgrade and I played my fingers to the bone just so I would get everything there is to see / use.

Indie developers learned how to do it right, either step up the game or fuck off with your lazy bullshit.

Well, yes, to a certain extent. I rarely go for online achievments unless it's something I can do with my friends. And I try to avoid the 'grind' achievements, like 'Seriously' from Gears Of War. Also, if I feel that the achievment is just way too time-consuming I'll give up on it.

I'm totally an achievement whore, but I understand why people wouldn't want to bother. It's not like achievements or trophies matter, and if you get tired of the game why keep playing? There's no point in boring yourself just because you haven't unlocked everything.

That is, unless you're like me, a complete freak who will not stop until I have them all!

I think they add a nice bit of replay value, but I'm not hugely concerned with them. That said, on several occasions I've been mucking about with friends in TF2 specifically trying to get them (I avoid specialized achievement servers on principle).

I am getting into trophies now. I got the uncharted 2 platinum and now I just want more. I'm working on Mass Effect 2 now and I'm planning on going for the Uncharted 3 and Arkham City ones as well.

Sometimes I'll get a bug to knock out a specific hard achievement but otherwise no, I'm not. Some of them just aren't fun to go after (why play a game if you're not having fun?).

If the answer for you is no, I want to know why you don't see the point in getting 100% completion out of a game when you've paid for it.
Well, I usually pay for the game to have fun with it, not to bore myself to death doing some mundane tasks just to have some digital picture in my menu that's worth nothing.

Sure, if the game is fun and replayable on its own and the trophies are reasonable, it's a fun way to mix things up a bit by hunting trophies. For example I got Platinum trophy in Infamous and Batman: Arkham Asylum, because none of the trophies were that grindy and I wanted to keep playing those games anyway.

But there are bunch of trophies that aren't fun nor contribute to the game in any other way than making you spend more time with it. And in these cases your question is basically equal to asking
"You paid for that whole box of ice cream, so why don't you eat the box?"

The only time I actively do achievements is when they sound fun or awesome, not when they sound like a low-level MMO quest. I play games for fun, not tedium.

Yeah, I would have done it anyway. I'm a fan of self-imposed challenges.

I DO like me my trophies. In fact, I'm currently racing with three other friends to see who can be the highest level. I started out in last place. I am now in second, and closing in on the leader. He's at level 16 and is starting to freak out because it's dawned on him that I'm closing the gap faster than he can widen it. I'm now at level 14, 80%, and with the game drought coming to an end this Tuesday, the race is ON!

That said, I will attempt to get 100% on games if I believe I can. Most of the time, these are RPGs or shooters, as they can be done fairly easily (Modern Warfare 2, Alice: Madness Returns, etc). However, sometimes a game will throw a trophy at me that I simply can't get. To this day, I still haven't completed "Mile High Club" and "No Fighting in the War Room" on veteran because of the stupid time limit. I also can't get all the combat challenges in Batman because some of the scores are insane.
Then there are games like InFamous and Mass Effect (not Mass Effect 2), where I could totally get the platinum trophy/all achievements, but I don't want to because some of the trophies are linked to being evil/mean. I just can't do that. My conscience won't let me. It tore me up enough getting the platinum for both Dragon Age games. The only way I could do it was because I told myself the choices weren't evil, they were just matter-of-fact and unpopular.
Finally, there are games with multiplayer trophies. These games need to die. Call of Duty did it right by having no trophies linked to their online. If I decide I'm going to get online trophies, I start on those first, the day the game comes out, because no one knows the game yet so it's easier to get a 7-killstreak reward (cough Medal of Honor cough). After that, I never touch the multiplayer again because I view it as a chore, not something to do as fun.

Nope. I play games to have fun and to do what I want. If the requirements for 100% completion don't match up with what I want to do, then I have no problem with not doing it.

If there's some achievement/trophy that's rewarded for doing something awesome or difficult I might go out of my way to do it just to say I did. But if it requires me to "Do this repetitive task this excessively large number of times!", I'll probably pass.

Yes,I am.DAMN TEAM FORTRESS 2 ACHIEVEMENTS.GOTTA GET THEM ALL!
As for your CoD example, well,I don't play CoD.I might sometimes come over to a friend's house and complete the game together, but ME ACTUALLY SITTING ALONE AT MY PC AND PLAYING IT ALL THE WAY THROUGH...that never happened.Except with the 2nd and a little bit of the 4th(the best one,by the way).
