Youngest, though I oft feel like an only child because my brother has his own life away from us (he IS 33) so it's usually just me and my mother.

However, I do feel like I get compared to him by my mum quite often because he is smarter, more intelligent, more productive, more impulsive and just plain better than me. Except for the "dudebro" parts, but they are negated by the fact that he isn't a fucking idiot.

I have two half-sisters and one half-brother that I grew up with, we were close once. They all have the same Dad, a different last name, and they are older than I am. They have a lot of issues with each other that stem from their childhoods together before I was even an idea and we don't really speak or see each other anymore. I never really felt like I was one of them, and I am my Dad's only child. So, technically, no; I'm not an only child.

I'm an only and didn't bother me one way or the other. I had plenty of friends I could hang out with growing up so never felt lonely. In fact I was always a bit surprised when I found out friends had brothers or sisters.

There was a bit of pressure to do well at school and I never had the chance to deflect unwanted parental attention onto a sibling so got good at making sure I *seemed* well behaved.

Having said that I am a father of four so draw your own conclusions... :)

I'm the monkey in the middle of two brothers. Right now my older brother doesn't really get on with me too well, I don't know why that is, we just don't converse a lot but it has been worse. I get on better with my younger brother but I wouldn't call my brother one of my better friends though we can safely turn to eachother for advice, something we can't do with our oldest.
Of the three I seem to be the only one who's happy with what he has, not constantly nagging our parents for new stuff or more allowance. I don't think that being the middle guy makes me sort of a mediator. We just turn to eachother based on the interests that we have in common and sometimes our interests shift, making it a complex triangle.

Uhm I have two little sisters that I've never ever lived with so do I count as an only child? Also when I was 6-ish one of my cousins was born and I lived with him for about 5 years.
Do I still count?

I'm the youngest of three and only girl, I used to get along better with my oldest brother than my other brother, but now it's the reverse, I get along with my middle brother better than my oldest brother. I probably wouldn't have minded having a sister, maybe...

Technically I should be selecting two options on this poll since I am the oldest sibling (It still counts even though its only a few minutes) and I am also a fraternal twin.

I'm the youngest of the two.
Despite at times I am at ends with my bro (my bro dislike that I am aimless/not that ambitious when it come to my job career) considering that we are mostly polar oppersite to each other (he's a social butterfly, I'm antisocial, he prefer graphic over gameplay and I'm the oppersite, he gel his hair oftern, I rarely and etc) but hey at the end of the day he is still my brother. I just wish we can get along more better like the old days.

They say that being an only child or the youngest child and so forth affects what kind of person you become
So in short: if you a born, it will affect the kind of person you becomes?
No shit. :)

I'm the oldest kid of a bunch of half-sisters and half-brothers.

I'm the second youngest to my father, the oldest to my mother.

My dad has four kids, so there's not really a "middle child."

Because my brother has severe cerebral palsy and is effectively a toddler despite being a decade my senior, and my older sister isn't really around often, I tend to feel like the eldest child. But I'm closer to the middle I suppose.

I'm the oldest and most independent of my siblings. All my life I've always done things on my own and carried the burden and consequences that came with it. I've had almost no regrets and a positive outlook on life.

My youngest sibling has a rather peculiar case; they lack a sense of identity and personality that often gets them into all sorts of unfavorable situations. More so than anything, they tend to emulate whoever is closest to them and only highlights the more negative or absurd characteristics. This often lands them in trouble, particularly with my other sibling, as they tend to be unable to hold up the facade for more than a few hours and ends up upset and demoralized.

I've tried many times to encourage them to find their own selves to no avail and continues to simply emulate other negative characteristics. I fear that as they attend a higher plane of academics, they will be in with the wrong crowd and forced into various habits and behaviors that are damaging and harmful to their overall self.

I'm an only child if you don't count the twin I ate in utero.
Not really (As far as I'm aware). I'm all alone.

I am one of 10 children from the same 2 parents. I have 7 younger, and am very close with 4 of my 5 sisters and 2 of my brothers. Everyone comes to my house now for family gatherings. I am the one who is usually called to help solve problems and keep the peace in family disputes.

Two of my youngest sisters introduce me as " this is my sister, who raised me," and telling them that I am more like their mom than " mom." When they need a place to stay they come here and are always welcome. I try to take care of my family as best I can.

Identical twin here. @IndomitableSam is my twin.

No other siblings, mother had enough problems having children that they said "Done!" when they had us.

I'm in the middle, and on great terms with both older and younger siblings (my parents commented on it, how even though we only see each other once or twice a year we carry on like no time passed in between).

What do they say about a middle child's development?

Only one whose lived at home for a long time now, but not an only child. My youngest sibling is nine years older than me and the oldest is nineteen years older than me, so I didn't have too normal a sibling relationship with any of them. I view all of them like extended family almost, except for my sister who lives in town.

Youngest by 9 years. I wish I was closer in age to my brother. The age gap meant that we couldn't really do the same things so we didn't become too close, which is a shame.

There's three of us, and i'm the youngest. The tow others are close to each other in age, but there is a massive gap between them and I. Hell, the oldest is already married. We're really close, the middle one lives in the same city as me, but the oldest lives in Brussels with his wife (he works at the EU).
