A lot of people (myself included) talk about on this forum how they suffer from social anxiety and the like well not suffer but I've seen people mention being nervous about talking to people and approaching people or being misanthropes, or spending a large amount of time at home.
Me for instance I can't talk to anyone if they don't talk to me unless I know them and talking to girls makes me incredibly nervous causing me to always not look at them, stutter, or mumble.I try to avoid people on weekends and my mom is constantly bothering me about inviting someone over, and I fail at small talk with people I don't know well. I'm not completly anti-social I do have friends I know well over I just don't have many of them at school.

How about you?
Technically, as long as anyone participates in any form of society they can't really be anti-social. So anyone who says yes, but is here participating in this society would be a liar.

By the way, I'm not anti-social. I just don't play social games.

I don't know how old you but you sound like a teenager so here's my feeble, useless but still encouraging bit of advice:

You will grow out of it. To some extent anyway. I know because I used to be exactly like you and while I'm still not exactly Mr Socialable I have definietly got a lot better recently. Don't worry about it, don't listen to your Mum, do what you want. Confidence will come with time.

I've mentioned this in another topic, but I'm unable to do small talk. I can rage on for hours on end if you give me a topic that I actually know something about, but if I don't have anything to talk about, or if the topic is something I don't know a lot about, I just stay silent. I even realize that the silence is uncomfortable, but I can't do anything about it. My brain just explodes when I'm trying to come up with something to say. I just can't really deal with people who don't have the same interests as I do, as I can't pretend being interested in something they have to say.

I'm just the same. Give me a topic and i could go for days on end. But if i, myself, have to come up with something i'm stuck. Even my "How do you do"'s come out as awkward.

I wouldn't really class it as anti-social though, because i'd love to just be able to talk to people.
I'm extremely shy, i clam up around people i don't know for fear of making a complete ass out of myself haha.
i have a very sarcastic / warped sense of humour so people often just look at me like i'm a little nuts most the time, until they get to know me and they understand what i'm on about. I think thats another thing that holds me back and puts me in the "anti-social" group.

Not at all, in fact I'm so un-antisicial that it gets me into trouble sometimes. Although there are times where I like to just hang out and be alone.

Nah I'm really outgoing, most kids in school know me by name. Obviously, I have a pretty small group of people I actually hang with, but most people where I go know me. (It's kinda hard not to notice the kid wearing the laser sweatshirt)

I'm not anti-social at all. I can either talk first or last, it really doesnt matter, just about everyone knows me and making small talk aint that hard for me. Talking to a complete stranger however is just something i really don't do unless im in some group with them(AKA camp, activity thing).

Severe social anxiety. If someone I don't know approaches me, I hope they don't talk to me. But if they do, I get into the conversation, and it gets better. It's weird.

Yes, and a mix between Option 1 and Option 3. I talk only to my friends and am nervous around other people, and I often find that having a general "I hate you until you prove otherwise" rule very important.

More the first option. If I know you I'm fine and I'll talk a lot, but I am more nervous and quiet around strangers. Also, I have a tendancy to tell people to piss right off if they get on my nerves.

I tend to be pretty shy. That's why I always make a point to attack my shyness with a battle ax every time it makes an appearance.

I'm good with people; I can even talk in circles around most of the ignorant bastards I know.
I'm bad at talking over the phone though, it feels seems awkward.

Well to my friends I talk too much but strangers the other way around.

Also I lost hope in the human race when one of my friend's got raped

I talk to my friends easily enough, but strangers I have a hard time with. Especially when they're the opposite gender.
