Perfect eyesight-five? *high fives*
Wouldn't that involve us somehow hitting our eyeballs together? I imagine that'd be somewhat detrimental...
Goddammit guys, stop showing off your eyes!

We the bespectacled will VAPORIZE you with... the sun... focusing on you. Yeah.

occasionally i have atmospheric rectification systems and thermal optimisation too
not to mention my super-light armour and rubberised traction pads
we are the borg, resisting the future is futile.

If you're a bat i wonder what awesome thing I would be? I recently went to test my sight, because my eyes had felt kinda strained for a couple of months. Turns out my right eye is currently at -8 and my left at -8.25. Feels bad man.
Maybe a mole?
Moles are cute :)
(Those underground, not necessary the spying ones)

I am sure -8 feels bad :(
I always felt bad when my eyes got worse and I am still afraid that that could happen again.

There's no scientific evidence (that i'm aware of) that using a monitor or watchng a TV makes your eyesight worse.

Its something of an urban myth I think.

That's an offensive stereotype of bats. Even echolocating bats have fair long distance vision, and fruit bats rely on their sight and smell to find fruit.
Okay, I am not a bat. I can't even do echolocating and I guess I can't smell fruits from far away. And I can't fly. Now I have a quite bad sight and no cool animal to relate to ;(
And I don't trust in sayings anymore!

I wear glasses, sadly. I've had them about 5-6 years I think.

I have nothing against people who wear them, honestly they're probably fine. But me personally, I can't stand wearing them. Dx They always get in my way, I have to keep cleaning all the time. I don't see an upside to wearing them at all.

I'd wear contacts but I hate putting things in my eye, and I'm worried I'd fall asleep with them in and have to get them surgically removed. ¬_¬

I'm just waiting until the day I can afford Lazer Eye Surgery. I know it's not the safest option, but I'd rather try it then be stuck with glasses forever.
ive had two friends tell me about laser surgery going wrong, one has a tiny blob on his vision which he's been told is unfixable because it's so small
and the other one was left with 5% vision and had to have the operation again to be able to see properly
obviously any surgery has that risk, and those risks get lower all the time but in my opinion, it's just not worth it

personally, i'd stick with glasses but if they bother you go for contacts, contacts are really allot better than people make out they stick to your eye very well
you should definitely try them before surgery
my sister has them, she tells me they are quite comfortable once you learn to ignore them
and you don't have any marks, so that's cool too.

any modern panel, as long as it isn't ridiculously bright will never damage your vision

however, if your an inch from a very bright cathode ray tube, i could see that becoming damaging over time especially because older screens spew out ir and uv as well as visible light, that is known to be damaging to human cells

*meh* Was joking, since he was the first guy who posted who didn't need glasses. Most others on the first page either wear, or should wear.

Still, a lot of my gamer friends don't need glasses, so I'm fairly envious... and that includes the guy who sits in front of a computer screen for an occupation (runs incessant computer simulations), let alone for leisure.

I wasn't even aware that it was an urban myth, truth be told... and I think that overexposure can lead to visual deterioration, but only really if you have idiot settings (brightness and contrast), though even this might not be proven... *shrug*

Either way, I'm half-blind...

Yeah, I do know there's still a big risk with the lazer surgery, but I'd rather have a permanent fix then have to rely on something every single day

I probably will give contacts a go before I get the surgery, since it'll be a long time before I can afford it anyway. xD

Yep. I look weird without them though so I'm sort of happy I need them. No I'm not saying that because I'm used to seeing glasses on my face looking in the mirror. I looked funny before glasses and everybody agrees with me that wearing them has improved my general appearance somewhat.

Maybe we'll just use our hands then, like the rest of the world. XD

I have been wearing my spectacles for about... 15-16yrs I think. I started late in 5th grade when people finally figured out that I needed them, and wasn't just BSing about not being able to see the blackboard! In fact, I'm going to get a new pair tomorrow! <3

I love my glasses and just can't really see myself without them. (Forgive the unintentional pun.) I have the option of getting Lazik(sp?) surgery so that I would no longer need my glasses... But I honestly feel odd about it! I think I would look strange without them as well.

Yea, I got a -5 left and -7 right (don't know if this is the way you silly americans grade how fucked your eyesight is)

Altough I would like to see better (as -5-7 is pretty bad), I dont think I could miss my glasses i spend about ?400 every year buying new settings (not the glasses most of the time ofcourse).

I just see it as a part of my clothing and as long as they look nice I don't see why I wouldn't wear them.

Used to be, but then I had an eye operation where they stuck a scalpel inside it to realign the nerve, so now I don't need glasses.

I've been using contacts full time for like 4 years now I didn't use to mind wearing glasses before I got contacts but now if I'm forced to wear them I hate it.

That actually just gave me a strange vision of someone jabbing a scalpel into the eyeball of your pony avatar while her prone body is draped across an operation table!

I'm trying to remember how my doctor put it. For some reason I want to say 25/100, but I'm uncertain if I'm recalling this right. Probably not, so someone please feel free to correct me. But basically, he told me my eyes were screwed! Though he said it in a professional manner.

And I feel the same way when it comes to my own glasses. So I always try to get pairs that easily go with everything I wear!

I went through school not needing glasses until around the age of 14 when I noticed everything further than about 5 feet away was slightly fuzzy. I coped for the next few years, not wanting to have to wear them but eventually when college rolled around I started taking them with me and wearing them when I needed them. Now I just wear them all the time, it's easier...except when it rains, then I'm constantly wiping them every 5 seconds so that I can see.

I blame Mario 64 on the DS frankly. I got addicted to the minigame where you have to line up the faces one summer and my eye sight has never been the same since.
