I am not boycotting the service for any reason because that word is too strong of a term for what I do towards EA products. I am not trying to make any point, political or otherwise, towards the company for any of its practices.

The correct way to think about it is that I am not buying any of their products not because of any "unfair" business practices, but because their products do not interest me. There are a scant few things that this company makes that I want to play. I like Deathspank. Dante's Inferno was fun also. Beyond that, I am ambivalent towards. I do not care one way or another.

Now, if you are going to boycott, follow through with it. Baycott means you are not buying anything the company makes, even if it is popular. Do not use the "I want to play with my friends" excuse because it tells me you do not have the courage of your convictions. You should be able to say, "to hell with my friends I am making a stand on this one."

Unless I manage to get a legal crack that takes Origin out of it, I refuse to play anything that uses that stuff. I just don't want that on my PC. I had such a hassle with the EA Download Manager and with Games for Windows Live (or XBox Live or whatever) that I just don't want to go through that again. Also, they don't have many games that I would like to try. Mass Effect 3, sure, but I don't know if I want to play that - I had ME1 on the PC, ME2 on the 360, so if I get ME3 for PC I will end up with a game without any of the nice "continuity extras".

This. "Boycott" is a pretty strong word for what's more accurately described as "busy enough with other games that I don't feel like dealing with EA's crapware."

I'm not boycotting it per se i just don't use it very much/at all! I do have a couple of games on there DA:O And ME2 But i don't use it unless i want to install either of those games.

Saying that though i only have those games on origin because ME2 was given to me for buying DA2 on the xbox and i'm not sure how how come DA:O is attached.

But do i intend ever buying any games from origin? Hell no!

I do not agree with this business practice, believe it is a very bad direction to take, and thus do not buy EA products. This is my responsibility as a consumer: Buy what I can get behind, not buy what I don't. This is not a boycott, this is simply voting with my wallet.

I do not need a security risk installed with a bonus game, thanks.

Yes, this means no Mass Effect 3 for me, nor Dragon Age 3, butthere are other games to play. Not a big deal.

Nope, not boycotting. Then again, I think Spore was the last EA game I've bought in a long time so I don't see the point of formally boycotting. I generally don't care for their games anyways. Battlefield 3 would be an exception but I have too many other games to play to add another to the list.

I'm not boycotting, I just don't buy their games.

There is absolutely no way I'm installing Origin for any reason. Unless EA does a serious revision of it, and it stops being a spyware and/or malware it's going nowhere near my computer. And I'm certainly not paying for a game just to be forced to crack it in order to maintain my privacy.

No, I already owned The Sims 3 before Origin came out and I got a free copy of Battlefield 3 with my graphics card, so it would be senseless to waste 2 perfect good games just because of the digital distribution platform they use.
Sims 3 needs Origin now?
My retail copy does. Origin is just like an updated version of EA Download Manager, so I installed it when I reinstalled The Sims 3 and patched my game.

I don't know how much The Sims 3 relies on Origin to actually run or whether it's still available on Steam without Origin, but that's how I got Origin, installing the retail version of The Sims 3 and following the prompts to log in with my EA account and patch the game.

To be honest, I didn't give it a moment's thought, so I don't know whether it's possible to manually install, patch and run The Sims 3 without Origin.

Origin creates some weird glitch on my computer that causes me to lose internet access for several minutes.

So whether I want to or not (luckily I DO want to) I will be boycotting Origin

I'm not boycotting Origin. I just simply do not feel the need for another digital distribution service on my computer.

I am not boycotting it, but I am not installing it either. There are no games I like on it right now, and there are none in the foreseeable future.

Eh, I'm really not fond of it on principle, but I'm more or less stuck with because I bought DA:O Ultimate without realizing that it would require Origin. Oh well, I guess I can still hope that other publishers don't come up with the same lousy idea.

I'd rather not have Origin on my system, but I just can't resist playing ME3 and ending the saga.. So I'll probably just install it unfortunately.

Unless Dragon Age 3 proves to be a genre defining gift of old Jehova himself, Origin can suck as much as it wants far away from me and my PC. Besides, there's always a console release.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

Origin is the boogeyman for many PC gamers. I think the intense vitriol it garners from many gamers is interesting and funny. Origin has yet to bite me in the ass yet. And I doubt that it will. But if it does, I'll just get a new PC and not install it. Drastic? Not really. If Origin does in fact lead to a major security breach on my computer, then I will gladly admit that all the venom-spewers I'm laughing at now were right, and simply get a new PC system, and not go within 50 yards of purchasing an EA title again.

But in the likely event that that doesn't happen, Origin-haters, please don't mind my snickering at your hysteria, and my enjoyment of Mass Effect 3 on the PC.

I stopped buying new EA games after DA2 came out. I'm only buying second hand copies of their games now. It's cheaper and pisses them off. The best part is I don't care about multiplayer all that much, so Project $10 can bite my pasty human ass.
