The last time England was invaded was 700 years before you declared independence. We had the largest Empire the world has ever seen. You're currently embroiled in two wars (admittedly one of which you're pulling out of, though you're moving all those troops to the other one) and your economy is in the tank.

So no, not really. It's better if we keep the U.S. as an economic friend. Losing them does
nothing good for Britain or the EU. Our comedians would go out of business.
.....thanks mate, thanks:\

Canadians out there - how pissed off are you when someone calls you American?
I don't get so mad as to foam at the mouth, but I know I definitely get pissed off if someone calls me an American. (Well, I do have dual citizenship but that's not the point! I was born and raised in Canada!)

Op: Anyway, I'm basically a British/Irish/German/Scandinavian mix as far as bloodline goes. (There might be a small amount of French but I'm not sure)

But I would probably use the word English unless I was actually IN Britain.

Exactly - Another thing that bugs me - when people say 'British accent'

Here's a little tip to Americans who say 'British accent' there are more accents in England ALONE then there are in all of America; some areas you can tell if someone is from a different VILLAGE by their accent.

Anyone here just English or solely Irish, Scottish, Welsh as far back as they can tell? Just curious.
I'm wholly Scottish as far back as I know (which if I recall is four generations at least).

I don't mind being called British, because, well, I am. I'm also for remaining united as one island, not splitting apart because of some idea of national loyalty. We're not at war anymore, why does it matter? I digress xD

I usually will say I'm Scottish to others though, just because, well again, because I am lol. I'll also correct people if they call me English. I guess Britain just has a messed up head when it comes to national identity, we don't know what the fuck we want.

I say I'm English as I am a citizen of England, although I'm half Irish and have a little bit of German in there, so I'm techincally European, but if pushed I'd say I'm British.

So, in short: English
Then British
Then European.

Ugh, I definitely know how you feel about that. Apparently the Newfoundland accent is the universal accent for imitating Canadians.

Part English, Irish and Filipino. But 100% British.

Although, when asked where i'm from, I say, everywhere. Where i'm from isn't as important to me as who I am, or where i'm going.

I ususally go with a simple "British". But if people ask for a breakdown it's half English and Irish, Scottish, Welsh and Russian mixed in.

I'm English and British.

I see no issue to separate the two. It's like asking "Are you French/Germnan/Spanish/Italian or European?"

You're both.
This.

Though I clicked British because I have moved around so much living in both England, Scotland and as a British expat I would identify myself as British first.

Ok so obviously you can't technically only be one, but the question is if someone asked for your nationality would you say British, or English or whatever? Personally, I would say I'm British, unless I was talking to someone who was Scottish or Welsh or whatever, then I would say I'm English. I guess, I would also say I'm English if I was talking about rugby or something because then the more specific answer is actually important as the individual countries have separate teams. It really doesn't matter to me which term people refer to me as, but I guess it's a bigger deal for more patriotic people. If you aren't from Britain, I guess you can give your opinion as to whether you would refer to us as British or English.

Are you British or English/Scottish etc?
British
English/Scottish/whatever
You uneducated and ignorant moron.

Your stupidity shines like a lit fart in the cluttered void of rotting useless minds.

I wouldn't even waste the time to spit on your face in the vane hope that you might notice.

PS somebody complained because I started a poll asking whether there were too many moronic polls.

I REST MY FUCKING CASE.

That's how I feel when someone calls me British.

I'm a bloody Scotsman; there are 3 countries in mainland Britain; Generalizing my nationality to 3 countries is like calling an Italian French.
You see, this is the thing. Over here in the Americas, there are two different people. American and Mexican. -- Hear me out before you flame me to Hell -- If your skin is white and you speak English you are an American. If your skin is a darker color and you speak Spanish you are a Mexican. That is how 85% of people over here think. Most could care less where it is you "Hail from" the only concern is your level of Douche-baggery.
