And purple, orange, yellow and pink (it's even labeled, so don't say you couldn't see that). Why does brown get left out?
Oh... it's the only one that requires all three cone types to respond. (Purple = red + blue, Orange = red + a tiny amount of green (I think), Yellow = blue + green, Pink = weak signal from red (again, I think))

Someone correct me, please (not an opthalmologist...)!

I remember a pair of pants I insisted for years were brown but weren't. I'm green or red-green, never officially diagnosed, but I've been in enough spots where I say "thats green" and then 20 people say "no its not" to know that theres something wrong with my boob-goggles.
Similar story (ish), I have a shirt and I insist to everyone it's blue... even though they say it's black... o_0

The color chart wasn't made for optometry purposes, it's a "Girls have silly names for colors" chart. If it were for optometry purposes and brown required being able to see all colors, it'd be pretty darn important to include it because it'd be sort of a red flag (get it!?) for color blindness.

Where the hell is the red-green color blindness?
Whatever, one thing I'd like to point out is colorblindness isn't quite like some people imagine, and it varies in severity.
For me when you put red and green together I have a hard time differentiating the red from green, but I can actually see the colors.

An odd thing that I didn't note though is you can (like me) be unable to see color blends so to me there are only 7 colors in the world. This is not debatable.

The only problem I have with this color scale is some of the colors in that "purple" look like they're blue, but hey what do I know?
Wait, that "Grape" looks Blue to me and isn't "Eggplant" Navy Blue? o_O

Incidentily, yes I am colourblind, I have difficulty with Greens and Blues.

I think you might be the same as me.
I'm red/green colourblind, and I often have trouble telling purple from blue.

I can also normally say whether a given something is green or red, but if you put a green thing next to a red thing I might not be able to tell the difference.

It's really annoying in class when the teachers use orange and green chalk on the blackboard. I actually have more trouble telling certain shades of orange from green than red.

Oh yeah, that reminds me... I want to kill/curse to oblivion the bright spark who thought up of 'green-boards' (blackboards, except they're, well, green). I can't see a damned thing on those things unless it's in white or yellow chalk (red just gives me a headache).

Hmmm... I'm trying to think back to yesterday, but I can't for the love of me remember whether our chalkboards are black or dark green.
I have this vague recollection that they might actually be green.

Other colours that suck on blackboards: Dark blue. What's up with that? It's practically invisible from the back row.

Edit: Also, what clever fucking chemist invented indicators that go from purple to pink?
And who was the fucker who figured red and green should be the most used colours for indicating whether someone is on your team or not in videogames. Seriously, I've done so much teamkilling in Graw.

What, as in achromatopsia?! (Was wondering how that leads to 'goth', but I get.)
I like very gray, dark, cloudy days. I like to dress in black. I don't enjoy colors as they frustrate me.

I'ma guy then? D: Also yeah, some things people say are "purple" look pretty blue to me as well. Orchid seems more blue than purple to me especially. I also can't tell the difference between clover and fern. Also, I thought Sea Foam was a slightly bluer version of that color. I also notice there aren't any dark blues on that thing. :p

Everytime I say I'm red/green colourblind I get the response 'but girls can't be colourblind!' sigh.

It's just really rare and I'm really genetically unlucky to have all my male parents and grandparents being colourblind. My sister is aswell. As an aside we also have a really rare bloodtype that anyone can use but we have to have the same one. Wierd.

I see where you're coming from with that, but if I suddenly went colorblind, I'd be MISERABLE. Colors are like, my favorite part of seeing.

Question for colorblind people: Do you have problems with contrast? Like, if a background and a font color are in two different colors that you have trouble with, do you have a hard time telling the words from the background, and thus being able to read it?
