You still can fight other Big Daddys, I believe, and the Big Sister, for sure.

Don't make assumptions until it's released.
Being the thing you try to destroy takes fun out of it. Would you play a shooter where you play as a terrorist? (other than counter strike) plus, no plasmids!
Christ, get your facts straight. You get plasmids and weapons. In fact,

To me it's all an indiana jones tradgety. They could have done a great story, but they didn't. I dont know yet, but I'm alredy dissapointed :(
How can you know if the story is any good? The game isn't out yet, and we don't know what the main conflict is.

I was really looking forward to bioshock 2, untill I found out that you play as a big daddy. They were great enemies, but I really don't wanna play as one! I wanted a continuation of the firsts story!
You wanted a continuation of the story in which you inevitably die?
Also, it is a continuation of sorts. It takes place some years after the first one.

Am I the only one who notices it's set BEFORE the first? So yeah good story isn't hard with the whole fall of the city thing.

You DO realize that it's also a prequel, right?

Like, you find out more about the old story through flashbacks and discovering things out in the water and such?
Er.. it takes place in 1970. How is that a prequel?

Well considering I hated Bioshock I guess I can't get too disappointed with a sequel I won't play.
Really Bioshock didn't sell me enough to care about the sequel. Maybe if I had played less RPG's when I was a kid I wouldn't hate this game so much but since I did I hate this game. (Wow talk about a redundant statement)

Through the aforementioned flashbacks and discoveries of journals/logs left by people.

You should have read the article. The ENTIRE article.
You play as an outdated big daddy, and the big sister will most likely kick your ass in any confrontation. It's an entirely new type of game, but it will still have tons of challenges and new weapons + upgrade systems.
Sounds fun to me.

I was never really too exited about it. The first one was extremely "meh" apart from the unique environment and sense of unease you get from playing it before you get a whole bunch of plasmids that instantly decimate everything. With the second one we've already seen the environment and now you ARE a big daddy so they aren't something to fear anymore. I don't really think bioshock even needs a sequel.

I think some of you need to learn your research as some of you just completely got your facts wrong. One of you even mixed up the "There's something in the sea" ARG with the game story line. The ARG is not the story of BioShock 2.

You are the prototype Big Daddy who has become a renegade of sorts. Yes you are very strong, which puts you into a false sense of security. What happens if you are this juggernaut and you find something that can kick your ass? Unstoppable force meets an immovable object.

I think BioShock 2 has a lot of potential to be as good as the first. Maybe not better, but just as.

I always wanted to play the Big Daddy and now I get to play one for real. I got jibbed out of the first game with the half-assed Big Daddy.

I am not expecting much from the multiplayer, but then again...I am not getting this game for the multiplayer.

I'm pretty stoked. Considering Bioshock is one of my favourite games of the current generation, its probably the one sequel i'm really looking forward to. I never got into Modern Warfare, and Assassin's Creed didn't thrill me (but it certaintly wasn't bad, I'll probably give the sequel a shot), but Bioshock, on the other hand, I really enjoyed. It reminded me of Fallout 3, only much prettier and with a far better story.

The 2nd one really seems to be making an effort to introduce some interesting new concepts to the series, and in my opinion it looks pretty sweet. I always thought the Big Daddy's looked awesome (I have one as my wallpaper :p), but you really learned very little about them - they were some of the most mysterious characters in the first Bioshock, and I think being able to play as one will be a really interesting experience.

I don't understand how someone can be disappointed in a game that hasn't even been released yet.
It looks better then the first. And most of all, I can't understand why people are complaining that the game even exists. If a game has such a rich and diverse environment and atmosphere as Rapture does, it would be crazy not to expand the story some more. Its not like they are repackaging the same game and reselling it; there is a new story, a new main character and even multiplayer that has its own story. The developers would have been crazy not to make a sequel to Bioshock.
