Yes, very dissapointed, I grew up playing games in which the word "difficulty" actually meant something. Not so long ago my cousing (11 years old) asked me to help him to pass a level in Ratchet and Clanck ACIT.... I simply said, no; not because I didn't wanted to, but because he'll never learn if I do things for him, so he simply changed the game.... really, I understand that if a game is difficult it can be frustrating at times (btw Ratchet games are not difficult), and it happened to me that I changed games to rest a bit when I started to feel frustrated (I'm looking at you Demon's Souls) but I finished the game, my cousing haven't touched that game in...let me count, 3 months.

I must say it does seem like my generation has forgotten a little thing called a 'story' somewhat - I am always criticized for liking games due to their actual worth and fun as opposed to their graphics, and how much gore is in them...

I do own a Wii, and to everyone who hates it I have one word: Okami
I also own a Wii, and I play it quite a lot, but I have a couple words for you:

It's a PS2 re-release.
I know, but that doesn't stop it from being a brilliant game - I have played both and it really is pretty different, if a similar idea

Just like 15 years ago brutally hard isometric RPGs used to be the craze.
"Isometric?" Are you referring to games like King's Quest, or more along the lines of the original Final Fantasy?
The first and second Fallout, etc.

My friend is finaly getting to games and beating them, I told him he has no right to play Mass Effect 2 until he beats the first one at least once, he agreed, and anyone who disagrees, your wrong. My friend had me come over(this is a few years back) and beat the Omega Pirate in Metroid Prime for him, then sold the game.

I hate kids playing rated M games, it was fine when I was young because there was no online for the N64.

Yes. I am sick of those bastards who come to school everyday going "OH MY GOD MODERN WARFARE 2 BEST GAME EVER MADE"... I doubt they even played Zelda: Ocarina, or RE4, or Doom :(

Mazty may be illustrating a lack of effort in many areas in MW2, but the fact that so many people like the game regardless shows they know how to hide the blandness of certain aspects. Certainly it's a game that doesn't really allow for a lot of the creative choices or player decision-making that some games would (Crysis: Machine gun? Attach C4 to a hunk of metal, then strength-toss it in) but that does seem to cater to a lot of people. You see the same sort of thing in the film industry; thus mindless action films winning out more often than we'd like.

You sometimes have to wonder if it's a bad thing. Some people play games purely to relax and stop thinking. Maybe they design cars during the day, so expecting a deep, cultured play from them is kinda baseless.

I don't feel disappointed. I have no need to be.
Let them play the games they want to play or act the way they want to act - it has no affect on me.

I enjoy all sorts of games, though I haven't played Modern Warfare, or any of the Call of Duty games; neither have I played Half-Life, Portal, Team Fortress 2, or a lot of other popular games. Meh.

A swing and a miss, pal, I've completed Crysis and played Stalker: Clear Sky.
No logical reason? I am sorry, are you blind? I repeat myself once again: it looks good, it plays good, it has wonderful direction, it is fucking fun.
I liked it because I LIKE ITS GAMEPLAY. Yes, I like running from point A to point B, triggering scripted events and killing enless waves of soldiers. I find that FUN.
You can blab all you want about "technical merits" and I understand you. But I like Modern Warfare 2 more. In my opinion, it has a soul, a value and a bunch of memorable mind-blowing set pieces.
I remember every mission of Call Of Duty 1 (a little bit off-topic, I know) but can't remember anything from Crysis. Crysis, while technically impressive, was bland. This is not.
I don't play too many games, but I play enough. I consider myself an educated man in that area. I can try to prove that, after Modern Warfare 2 my favorite games are Portal, Knights Of The Old Republic, Toca Race Driver 2 and Battlefield 2.
I'm not asking you to agree with me but, please, show some fucking respect towards my taste.
If you think MW2 comes close to Crysis or Stalker, then you are blind - benchmarks prove the significant difference.
"It looks good" How? It's at 640p resolution, which means it won't look good compared to games that are at a natively higher resolution, with the same power or more behind them.
"It plays good". How? The multiplayer is unbalanced, tiny, and no dedicated servers, not to mention all the hackers.
"Wonderful direction". What does that even mean?! Direction of the story? It makes no sense. Direction of the game compared to the market? The game does nothing new, if not actually less than some of the competition.
Would it kill you to elaborate on your thoughts??
How can the set pieces be mind blowing when you realise that you can't kill the machine gun nests which are just flashing lights in a window?
Crysis bland....The storyline wasn't anything special, but a far sight better than the tripe of MW2 which was just BS storyline. Plus the graphics & physics of Crysis are enough to push it above bland, as well as the open gameplay and really great AI.
MW2 has some good set pieces, shame that they are ruined by a dire draw distance, making it far harder than it needs to be (e.g. White House charge, Burger Town).
If a person said they enjoyed Saw because it was a good film, I'd tell them they were a fool with no knowledge of what constitutes a good film.
The fact that you can't elaborate why MW2 is good, other than giving ambiguous reasons which again beg the question "how?" shows the amount of thought you've put into thinking about MW2. Personally I think your romance with the series means it could be a port of Haze & you'd still claim "Best game evar".
I actually agree with your last sentence. Well, I am a fanboy, what can I fucking do?
Still, even when I go into with no respect towards the developer, it's great.
I don't know, maybe you were playing on a super shit computer (unlikely), but I know it looks good. I have a laptop - it looks good on my laptop.
It also plays good. I don't really play multiplayer but I didn't find it that unbalanced.
Also, about Crysis, graphics and physics don't make a game.
You ask what the hell is "wonderful creation", I'll rephrase it with "fucking awesome set pieces".
Again, I have two demands:
1) Please give me an exact question about the game because when I answer the general "Why did you like it?", you tell me that I'm wrong.
2) Have some respect towards my taste.

I voted 'Yes'. To me, most games nowadays seem to be all about style over substance. Sure, the games LOOK pretty, but there's barely any gameplay to them. You might get around 8 hours of gameplay out of it (if it doesn't have online capability), with the rest being taken up by cinematic cut-scenes. You buy games to PLAY them, so if you wanted to watch a movie, you'd buy one, right?

As for your 2nd point, I'll have respect for your taste when you show you've put some thought into it rather than just jerking off to a game because of it's title.
Well, that says it all, doesn't it?
Set pieces actually DO make a game, espescially when they're well inplemented into generally good FPS gameplay.
Ping is not my problem, mate, I had less issues with the game then I had with RS: Vegas and Halo 3.
Also, whitehouse mission? I beg your pardon but I have no idea what you're talking about.
Your main comments about MW2 concer only graphics, multiplayer, story and difficulty. Nothing said about general gameplay so I assume you didn't mind it.
Bullshit, man, total bullshit. All you do is basically ignore why I like it and say that I like it for nothing.

its currently split between online and casual gaming as crazes at the moment.

Neither are bad things, but surely the story should be good?

i mean i love games with good graphics but thats second to the storyline

i prefer games which had LAN play as well, thats a feature thats dropped now in favor to online. i want a game like Quake 1 with LAN co-op play

The age of the average gamer is rising, but the maturity isn't. Unfortunately, this means a lot of 'tough internet guys' - kids with false bravado, talking smack because they're on the other side of the world from a guy they're besting in the video game.

Alas, these types of 'tough guys' feed on other people's anger and frustration, most likely because they have no way with dealing with their own problems.
