I know, I'm a bit late, but on January 1st Chris Cornell confirmed a Soundgarden reunion.
Shamelessly copy + pasted from Wikipedia:
"On January 1, 2010, Cornell announced the Soundgarden reunion via his Twitter, writing: "The 12-year break is over and school is back in session. Sign up now. Knights of the Soundtable ride again!" The message linked to a website that features a picture of the group performing live and a place for fans to enter their e-mail address to get updates on the reunion. Entering that information unlocks an archival video for the song "Get on the Snake," from Soundgarden's second studio album, 1989's Louder Than Love."

Soundgarden being my favorite band, I am definitely excited for a reunion. I was (sadly) born too late to see any of their concerts, so I hope an opportunity comes my way.

Is anyone else excited? Share your opinions.

EDIT: The website linked was a soundgardenworld.com, here is the link to join the mailing list:

Although I haven't listened to enough of them to consider myself a fan, my love of Chris Cornell definately makes me happy about this reunion.

And in celebration, I present:

Can't say "excited," exactly, but they're a good band. Chris is a great singer...I miss Audioslave most of all.

not as much as the Stone Temple Pilots or Faith No More reunion but still its pretty cool I guess...Considering that I have enjoyed everything Cornell did...(including the last R'B kinda hit...)

No.

Reunions never turn out well, plus I am pretty meh about grunge.
I have to agree, reunions rarely turn out that well. They might make some okay tunes, but I don't think anyone expects them to do anything groundbreaking. Alice in Chains' new album didn't seem to leave much of a mark, and I doubt a new Soundgarden album would (if they did another album).

I agree with you there. Cornell even stated that he believed Down on the Upside (Soundgarden's last album) was their creative best, and anything more now would not be up to that standard.

I'd love to see them in concert though.

Yay Black Hole Sun!
That is one ridiculous video.

Basically everything on Superunknown is amazing, in my opinion.

My all-time favorite song is Fresh Tendrils.

Though I don't like most of their early stuff.

"Gun" and "Power Trip" are pretty cool, as well as "Loud Love."

Thing is, it'd better be good. Every fan and reviewer in the world will rip their limbs off if it desecrates the memory of their original run like Cornell's solo stuff nearly did.

That said, yeah, I'm totally excited for their return. I'm trusting them to do a great job of it - it's fucking Soundgarden, there's no way that could go wrong... is there?

Is it the 90s again?

But in all seriousness i hope they do well, idk what they'll do about their style though, since grunge is hardly on the radar anymore.

Although MVB and Sonic Youth have gotten back together and I've heard they've been working out well so who knows

No. As much as I love Soundgarden, it's become pretty apparent Chris doesn't know how to write music anymore.
