I'm not exactly a silent hill fanboy but i love a good horror game so yes i will be getting. I just hope it wasn't as disappointing as shattered memories.

This might be the perfect game to wait for the ZP review and base the decision off that.

I loved 2, 3 was very good survival horror, and I never got the chance to play 1 or 4 (it would have been nice to include these in their HD release). Those released since were crap by all accounts.

I'd love for this game to be a return to form, but I'm not getting my hopes up yet. It's definitely a "wait and see" deal.

I'll wait to see if it's any good.

SH4 was garbage and the other one, 5, whatever, wasn't much better.

Bah! I don't need to wait for anyone to review it. The trailer looks fantastic. Silent Hill 2 is one of my favorite games of all time, but I haven't played one since Silent Hill 3. Well, okay. I played Shattered Memories, but that's only cause I found it for $% in the bargain bin at my local used store. I was holding off on the other sequels because I knew they weren't getting their initial formula right anymore.

This latest one looks like they got their mojo back. Weird, deranged NPCs, yes. Main character who's not a saint and might even be the opposite, yes. Crazy monsters that look like they're actually going to try to eat you alive instead of just scream and hug you, YES. Original, intriguing storyline, hell yes. And some great unsettling, unique new environments, FINALLY.

I actually haven't been this excited about a game coming out for years.

I probably would if I still owned any consoles but I have long since given them up. I understand I haven't missed much in regards to Silent Hill. Silent Hill 2 is still the best one. Nonetheless, it does suck not being able to play newer ones.

Gonna wait for the reviews on this one. I didn't like Homecoming, Origins was okay, and I don't have the money to waste on an okay or bad game.

Yeah, I probably will get it.

I hope that it'll be a bit better than the last few. In terms of story and character development.

Wanna see some more of the psychological horror aspects and symbolism being focused on a bit more.

Yeah, I'll probably be getting it but I'll check out some gameplay videos after release just to make sure.

Despite having spent days upon days researching the lore and watching playthroughs of all of them (except Origins, fuck Origins) this will be the first one I've actually played it. I hope it's up to standard.

I've got my eye on it, it probably won't be a pre-order or day one purchase but...I might pick it up if it doesn't thoroughly disappoint.

I have tentative hopes since I'm in the belief that European and Japanese devs have a better grasp on horror than American developers do.

I love the Silent Hill mythology, well up until Silent Hill 3. Every one since then has been rubbish, action orientated, not much in the way of story and the inclusion of Pyramid Head in every one just annoys me. I played Shattered Memories on the Wii for a while but got a bit bored, this is mainly to the graphics. I'm sorry but HD has spoilt me. I can't go back unless it's truly retro now.

I'm hoping this game will be a return to form I'll keep my eye on it and I'd like to think I'd get it but I'll just have to see I guess.

Silent Hill 2 forever.

No.

The Silent Hill series is over as far as I'm concerned.

The original team is gone, with the stories of 1-4 wrapped up nicely. The last three games have been on the steady decline both in the standard of quality set by 1-4, and in horror itself. This new trailer shows a large town with many people to talk to and even mine cart rides.

Yes, mine cart sequences. In Silent Hill. Sounds pretty noisy to me.

I'm not saying it will be a bad game, but I don't think it will be Silent Hill. The last three games weren't. I refuse to financially support the decline of my favourite series.

I completely agree. Pyramid Head had a purpose in Silent Hill 2. In the film and Homecoming, he was merely there to look cool. Without any reason for being present or actually doing anything meaningful to advance the story, he comes off as a simple villain with a funny hat.

Further to that he's also been confirmed to be in the Silent Hill 2 film which is based on the Silent Hill 3 game! Stupidness. The film is totally going to bomb too, Christopher Gans the Cinematographer isn't on board and he was the most redeeming feature!

Eh... it's not gonna be any good. I'm quite sure about that. Shattered Memories was fantastic and they should have let the series to Climax. I don't like the look of what the developers of Downpour are doing.

Yes. Even though Silent Hill has been on the decline, it still offers a better experience than, say... Dead Space or the other "horror" games out there.
This 100%. I like to call contemporary "horror" games "ADHD Horror". Because it's got pretty nasty creatures and a gruesome premise... being blasted apart by the armed-to-the-teeth protagonist.

While I won't claim to be the biggest fan of silent hill nor have played every single one, I respect them in trying to cling to it's very merited roots in a climate where "horror" is having 23 different weapons with which to kill not-so-scary-anymore monsters.

The whole point of horror is the unknown and that you are defenceless against it, not "I can see every nasty, malformed bit about you, including the parts I'm going to shoot off with one of my 4 grenade launchers".

Another silent hill game? Can't they just let the franchise die ._.

To be 100% clear, no I'm not getting it, every game after 3 have been a bummer for me.

You forgot the part where the monster jumps out at you, which is apparently horror these days.

I expect disappointment. Immense disappointment.

I've honestly given up on more good silent hill games.
