I still own the original on VHS and I'm not a fan of 3D, but yes, I will watch Lion King again, one day.

In my honest opinion the Lion King is an aweful movie that I would never want to see again. Plus this movie has one of the most non-sensical endings EVER. This guy mostly sums it up

Just thinking about it, he says there is only one good song, much of it is award winning, and I'll grant you taste is subjective, but you cant say there's only ONE good song when the other songs used are still critically acclaimed (can you feel the love tonight won an Oscar, and Hakuna Matata is part of AFI's 100 Years...100 Songs. That puts it in a pantheon on level with Over the Rainbow, When You Wish Upon a Star, and Jail House Rock)
he spends a lot of the first part just chastising Simba, then he gets on Simba's side and starts to chastise Timon and Pumba.
And he seems to miss a few points or over simplifies them.
Simbas general douchy attitude while he's young being a defect in his character and saying that the film is telling us this is a good thing (when all of mufasa's talking is about not being a dick) and we're supposed to like it.
An Eight year's logic comparison to Simba thinking the death of his father is his fault and how an eight year old could say they wouldnt tink that (when people who are twice that age will ask if parents DIVORCE (not even death, just divorce) if its there fault and think it is).
the idea of Hakuna Matata and it meaning you should do nothing.
Mufasa saying remember who you are (and how thats "bad" advice and how he should have just come out and said the obvious).
Saying that Simba gains the ability to "Fly" (really knit picking at this point i guess).
Saying he(CM) was a better kid as if to get a Moral high with us and saying he never knew anyone like that, when Im sure a good portion if his audience could say they were little hell raisers when they were young and they turned out alright or at least knew people who did (I know I was one).

I dont know. Im not saying the film is bulletproof, but I will say I enjyoed it, still enjoy it, and this guy seems to just really try hard to pull stuff out of his ass and hate this film, then justifying by saying that he didnt like it as a child and new at that point that this was going to be a bad film (cause when you're eight, or at least when he is, he had all the knowledge of roger ebert).
he also relies alot ot he WE aspect. And its not even good use of propaganda WE. Its him saying WE so that he doesnt have to sound like a whiny dick about the film by saying I (cause he sounds very much like the simba character he just took so much time to chastise.
I dont know. maybe its just me, but his argument falls flat cause he uses alot of it poorly, once you see past the WE propaganda technique you see hes just hoping someone agrees so that he doesnt sound like the simba he chastised, and he takes a lot of moral high ground through a view of his age now, rather then as a kid who watched the movie (which he claims to use or at least implies this is all where it comes from).

Like i said, i odnt want to make a fight out of this. If you didnt care for the movie, then you didnt. if you did, then you did. And Im sure he has some talent in reviewing. He just seems the contradict himself in this review.

I love Lion King, don't get me wrong, it's a great movie. I just hate 3D movies because they make me motion sick, so why would I go see a movie I love in a format I hate?

I went into the theater yesterday with humble expectations. I expected the 3-D to not add that much to the movie. But I have to say, the Circle of Life song? It's AWESOME in 3-D.
I'm usually of the opinion that when they post-convert movies into 3-D, it usually sucks. Only when movies are made with 3-D in mind (Coraline, Jackass 3, Avatar, etc.) is it any good. Glad to see that at least ONE movie bucks that particular trend.
It cost me 7 bucks to see that movie in theaters yesterday. I've seen it on VHS a million times. Still totally worth it.
I would actually like to, if I had the opportunity. But I doubt it's going to be in any cinemas in my city.
Normally I have no interest in seeing these movies that they bring back into the cinemas, but it's been about a decade since I've seen the Lion King, so why not?
