When it comes to games that involve "moral choices" do you prefer to take the evil option or the good option? and why? which is more fun/satisfying?

for me In almost every game (fallout 3, mass effect among others)I almost always have to be a saint or at least neutral, I feel incredibly guilty if I do somthing bad and I especially hate being rude to NPC's...

I like taking the good route, but doing an evil playthrough once in a while is really good for unwinding.

Edit: Say, for example, in Oblivion I've got a mage who is good, but once in a while, I'll save, and proceed to kill everyone within sight.

For some reason I pick all the good conversation options, then kill everyone afterwards.

So what do you call that?

I'm mostly good. I don't like being evil - the moral choices aren't ones that I'd make for myself, so I don't make them ingame. It ends up kind of neutral, though.

I'm mostly evil but then sometimes my good side gets the better of me briefly.

I think taking the good side allows you to get the most out of the games however. Especially in KOTOR.

I almost always go the evil route when given a choice, then play the good route on a second run through the game.

Pretty much always good. It generally just makes the story more coherent and logical.

Unless a morality choice changes the story completely (i.e., destroying the world instead of saving it), being a jerk to people just creates plot holes.

I'd call that being a sneaky, evil prick more than anything.

Am I good or evil? In video games I usually just do whatever I haven't done most recently to keep things interesting.

In life I am much more complicated. I would describe it like this

I have walked through the darkness and know evil and chaos. It is apart of me. But in the darkness a beacon shines, brighter than any sun or star. It cuts through all like an eternal blade that is tempered by the darkness. I have walked in the shining light. I know compassion and order. It is apart of me. But the light can be blinding and corruption and ignorance stirs often. Those who often are evil use the light to blind others. Amongst the 2 paths I choose the path of the light, but I do not mock the path of the darkness. For with out the darkness I would not know the light.

Derp...

I agree with the good = more out of game/storyline sentiment. For some reason in most choose your own adventure-style rpgs you are locked in as being good for helping/complimenting/etc. npcs. Mostly I'm talking about info/knowledge gathering. You don't get it by being an outright ****, you have to be nice to them. I'd like to judged as MORE evil for using good means to a bad end than just sticking a sword through the npc's face. Instead I've got all these good points/karma stored up to offset my one bad deed that's the culmination of all my planning. It's not right. Utility aside, evil also generally has little unlockable stuff compared to good options. :( So usually I'm good with some less honourable inclinations.
