I don't know if you'll know so this is a general question to all the healthy people in here :) (I'm quoting you because I think you might know). I've looked online for this answer but strangely found nothing of use in my search. Namely just people yelling at me about how bad pop is...

Mountain Dew Kickstart; if I go by just what the label says, is BETTER for you than Mountain Dew? Would someone be able to tell me the freaking catch here? There's no possible way that Kickstart can be better for you but all the categories that I see (170 Calories V 80; 46 g of Sugar V 19 g) says otherwise...

Yes, in the same way morphine is a better alternative to heroin.

It's still terrible for you.
You want a healthy way to get caffeine? Black coffee.

Well I didn't think Kickstart was good for me but it seems like it could be a good stepping stone down from pop. Rather than 2 cans of Mountain Dew, I could drink 1 of these things instead and baby step my way down. If Pop is a 10 on the "bad for you scale" and water is a 1, I can at least drop it down to like...a 6 or 7 by going with Kickstart. Yeah it's not the healthiest but it's better than pop, right?

The biggest problem I find with these kind of drinks is finding something I like. Coffee is absolutely disgusting to me and a lot of the other drinks that would be healthier cost you big time.

Don't take baby steps with this crap, just cut it out from your diet.

You get used to the taste. I found black coffee disgusting at first and within 2 weeks I was enjoying every cup(and I can say with confidence that I like my women how I like my coffee). If it bugs you that much, just drink half a cup, it still has more caffeine than a can of Dew. Tea is another great alternative for caffeine. Also cheap. And classy. You want to be classy, right?

I'm 5"11 (180cm) and ~79kg, I'm fine with my weight. But I'm trying to tone-up a bit, IMO body shape and proportions are more important than arbitrary weight-to-height ratios (or BMI). Hitting the gym regularly :D

It's boring as fuck working out and it's makes you sore, so for the next couple of days your muscles are aching and you feel awful.
If you're muscles are sore/aching for several days them something is wrong with your workout, OR you have only recently started working out.
I used to have a lot of pain when I started because of all the exercises that used muscles that had gone un-used for so long, but after a few weeks it all became alright. As long as you maintain composure and get the technique right (along with a good diet of course), shaping up should not be painful.

As for boring, see if you can get some nice music or a small cheap LCD TV. Should help pass the time during warm-ups or rests :)

I'm a little unhappy. I'm 5'7 and recently hit 140 lbs. I spent the last couple years working out with a personal trainer and got in pretty great shape. Then about a year ago, one of my medications caused me to gain like ten pounds. It's a hormone thing, and it's been scarily impossible for me to lose this weight. I stopped taking it, but it's a shot that stays in your system for months. I had to switch to another prescription, which made me gain even more. I'm pretty pissed.

I'm in the healthy weight range for my height and age, but any weight gain is very unflattering on me and I don't hold it well. I've never had this much trouble losing a few pounds before, either. :c

Do the crash course! The general idea is to stick to fruits + vegetables (don't eliminate meat/dairy stuff completely, but keep it minimal), drink a ton of water/juice and avoid junk/processed foods as much as possible. Meanwhile you need to hit the cardio exercises like a goddamn Kenyan, jog/run your ass off for as long as your stamina holds every day for at least 20-30 mins. Stick to light weights and high repetition.
You're going to feel hungry as shit and tempted to stuff anything you can find into your face (that's what happens to me anyway :p), but avoid doing that, keep drinking liquids between meals to keep your stomach full.
Your brain+body will eventually accept the fact that it has to make the most out of what it's getting, so very little goes towards fat storage. End result is fast weight loss :p

I'm 5'11, 299 pounds...and literally in the best shape of my life. You just don't feel fat when you've dropped 160 pounds and weigh less than when you were 13.

So yes, I could be loads thinner, but I couldn't be more happy with my weight than I am right now. I broke 300 lbs after 5 years of working my way slowly down in size.
Congratulations. I've seen a former roommate and his now ex-girlfriend go through something similar and it was very impressive to see their dedication.

I hit an all time high of about 200 pounds four or five months back...I'm 5'11". It wasn't pleasant. I was so round. So round! This for a guy who was about 120-130 pounds in high school.

I'm currently at a comfortable, but by no means healthy, 170. Much more manageable.

I honestly just stopped eating so much...and the pounds dropped. I didn't even increase my physical activity, though, I really, really should.

it's a trick, all they do is water it down 30% and suddenly it's 30% less bad for you.

i don't know exactly how you take your drinks, but i found switching to green tea, and either metabolic boosters like the ones i mentioned before or a small dark coffee now and then for energy works wonders

also, you really don't want a vast quantity of any liquid sugar it's bad for you in ways that could fill tomes.
for starters, it encourages unhealthy bacteria build-ups leading to halitosis, gum, tongue and general mouth and throat problems, including but not limited to overproduction of saliva and phlegm to re-coat bacteria damaged areas of skin your antibodies will actually eat your cells, if they are infected leading to sore throats, and digestive problems.
and that's before you consider the glycemic impact on your diet, and the kidney/pancreas troubles it will give you

oh, and that prostrate exam you want to avoid at the doctor?.. it's inching ever closer with every can of sugar water.
i could go on for quite some time regurgitating half remembered biology from several sources including a particularly hot german nurse i knew for a while.. but sufficed to say just skip the sugar and replace it with something less deadly!
i recommend water and a small packet of nuts, same energy boost, even peanuts are decent if you get them rosted unsalted, they have a huge amount of usable energy and so many good essential fats.
( those are the good ones, they support heart, brain, muscle and immune health. )
yes, i know it's not a drink.

i literally can't recommend you an rtd drink that isn't packed with sugar or artificial sweeteners, i'm not sure it exists. all the sports drinks i can think of have at least sucralose or aspartame in them, and frankly i don't want to recommend them because they're just destructive in a different manner ( they mess up your brain by confusing it's ability to regulate glucose ) here, this doesn't really explain my point but it's sortof related http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21824260

to that end,
i know fruit juice is more expensive, but if you can get an organic or no added sweetener/sugar one you can get your sugar fix from a low gi source, at least.

hope that's more usefull than a kick in the ass :p

I could do with shifting a wee bit of beer chub and bulking up a bit. I'm generally ok, but my arms are annoyingly skinny at the moment :/

That said, I feel quite good in comparison to my housemates. One of them can only do one pushup. One.

6 foot tall, 12 stone. If that means anything to anyone...

Not everyone can get a sixpack no matter the diet and workout, Arnold never had one for example.

Well, nope. Fat guy here.

182 cm - 117 kg. Way too much (I was once at 85kg and had about twenty times the endurance and a good portion of strength and agility more)

Then i begun studying computer science and stopped working out. A few years back i got my strength back (but not real fit) again when i worked in a warehouse for about a year but now since then i am sitting in front of a computer 12-14 Hours a day... well you know it.

Man, it is sometimes sad. when you have to hold your breath when tieing your shoes; breathing hard when i climb TWO stairs to my apartment or carry a few desktop PC's at work. Can't even touch my feet with straight legs anymore or do more than one push-up. Terrible.

When i see myself from the side... ewwww... the horror. Well but i am very lazy... Having a hard time changing my schedule and eating habits.

everyone has a 6 pack the problem is it's buried under a layer of fat. anyone can get the viable washboard abs you see on underwear models but most people are not prepared to drop down to the 3ish % body fat needed to get there.

me personally i said goodbye to my 6 pack about 10 years ago and apart from the occasional revisit after some heavy dieting i am not willing to sacrifice the foods i love to keep it. i am far from overweight and although most people see me as skinny i would prefer to lose about 7 kg to rid myself of some love handles.

Of course the muscle is there, it was a matter of seeing it.
Also that's a "5 pack" :p

I'm perfect. 20 years of running as made me look pretty good! I'm not one of those people that doesn't lifts weights or anything. I'm only 5'3" too, but you can look at me and tell that I'm really athletic.
