Poll: Are you Hyped for Modern Warfare 2 ?

I fail to see any interesting things about it. It's another 'modern warfare' game featuring (presumably) Americans versus Country X. I'm sick of games like this, modern war set in real locations does not appeal to me, I prefer the realm of fantasy. So many of these contemporary war games feel so similar and interechangeable that I can safely say I will ignore Modern Warfare 2 completely and stick to my Gears of War 2 instead.
As much as I dislike the praise that is heaped on CoD4 by countless idiots, I can't help but play it again and again. I'm feeling pretty jaded about most of the games in my collection at the moment, CoD is really the only consistent exception. It's a sad place to be, but it's where I am. Thus I have to admit that I'm somewhat looking forward to seeing what IW are going come up with.
Of course! CoD42 will cure Cancer and the H1N1 Influenza! The first Modern Warfare game was amazing, all Activision has to do is keep the same ranking system and just make some new maps. Or so they thought...

I might pick up a copy if I find it cheap somewhere but I wouldn't say I'd actively hunt high and low for this game (so to answer your question, I'm not overly hyped about this game).

http://modernwarfare2.infinityward.com/ BTW CoD4 wasn't set in WWII. It was set in the present day (which is why it had the subtitle Modern Warfare). It is one of the best rated FPS games, and is one of my personal favorites.Nazulu said:
Not in the slightest. I thought the first was stunning but that didn't get me all excited either. Still might end up buying it but not until its come out, traded in, got lost, found again, gone on a coming of age trip to Cambodia, come back and got married with a wife and kids, had a mid-life crisis, wife leaves him for a sexier new FPS, and lies in a ditch drinking special brew. Still, only if the price is right.
I have a tough time seeing how they could replicate a success like COD4. If the sequel removes the stupid aistrikes/helicopters, limits the effects of run n gun gameplay and make the multiplayer more squad based then yes. Ill pick it up. But even then its not something I would call myself 'hyped' about.
Oh yeah, that was stupid of me, modern warfare, I get it now. Anyway that Trailer didn't show shit so it must be very early in the making but I did enjoy COD 4 so hopefully it will be as good or better.thenumberthirteen said:
