Wait, what? Barbara Gordon goes back to being Batgirl? Fuck.
Apart from Cassandra Cain (who was awesome), all the Batgirls were, IMHO, exactly the same as every other young female sidekick. Oracle, on the other hand, had some originality and uniqueness, if only for being the only wheelchair bound DC heroine of note (Proxy does not count).
Or, to put it another way, you could take more or less any Gordon or Brown batgirl stories and swap the characters (or even have it about Misfit, except the teleporting) and it'd be unlikely to make any difference.
But if you were to replace Oracle...who would you choose? Excepting Proxy, who was made seemingly as a half-arsed attempt at this.
Hell, when they brought Batgirl back, they used Brown, simply because they knew that bringing Gordon back would piss off too many fans.
There's no point having Gordon as a Brown-style Batgirl and getting rid of Brown, and if you're changing her, why not change Brown instead? Hell, bring Cain back. Getting Kane to swap "woman" for "girl", or even giving it to the Huntress would have been a better idea.
