I can listen to any form of music, although I must say, I can't stand any form of gangsta rap.

I'm not narrow minded when it comes to music, no. I like metal primarily, but also rock, country, hip-hop, drum and bass, techno and some other asssorted shite.

Absolutely not. I listen to every single genre of music. No joke. Like when people say that they like you know from 50 Cent to Slipknot, that's not even close to the types of music I listen to. I like from Meshuggah to Muse to Superbus to polka music and everything. I like music no matter what it is. I bought the Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack and Tool albums. I listen to everything. Ever.

I listen to everything but country. Including rap, and what has become known in this thread as "Emo/screamo shit".

I don't get why people think that because the vocalist in a band screams the band are shit. It's just a different vocal style that requires skill and talent to do correctly. It's not about grabbing a mic and growling "rar rar rar" into it, like most people think.

But like I said EVERYTHING but country.
I can't stand country.

I'll listen to just about everything, but I am quite picky with what I do listen to. I'm open to anything someone recommends, but then Sturgeon's law comes into effect. I only really like about 2% of the stuff recommended to me, and I'll listen to about maybe 6% of what's recommended.

The rest of the stuff recommended to me doesn't appeal to me.

There might be and probably is a topic similar to this but I did not find one so I will make one.

When it comes to music, are you narrowminded? Do you listen to one or a few genres and all others are in your opinion poor? When someone does not like the same music that you do, do you hate him and try to convince him into believing he is completely wrong etc?

I used to be like that, but now I listen to other genres than heavy metal and everything under that tag like black metal etc. I like hardstyle and hardcore music and randomly listen to something I feel like listening thanks to Spotify.

This topic is valid for removal if there is a similar one lurking behind the corner.

What exactly do you mean by narrow minded, I have a general sense of what you want but a common law deffinition might make the whole thread make more sense once every one is working with a same definition of narrow minded...ness.

Other wise I would have to say im realativly open mind. Ill admit that I do have a general dislike more metal.

Yes I understand the the lyric are apperently expidentily better than "main stream" (which apperently is bad for some reason), and that there is alot of power in its sound. However the Lyrics simply arnt very clear (maybe my ears just arnt atuned to the sound).

Now I deeply sorry for what I am about to say but I like to think that we are all adults (which in fact is a lie, consider most of us are about 12 apperently), so here it is. To me all of the lyrics sound like they shouting "suck my (synonyme for rooster, slang for phallus) and spit in my eye". Now obviously that isnt true, but thats what is SOUNDS like to me.

Other than Metal (and Im not saying its bad, Im just stating that I really dont enjoy it) and country (the sound really jsut doesnt click with me) I would consider my self rather open minded. Ill admit that I like stuff with funk more than other things, btu hell we all have our preferences right.

I'd say I'm pretty open minded, there's over 2200 artists in my last.fm library. In my top 50 alone there's bands that fall into the genres of breakcore, hardcore hip hop, noisecore, punk, Russian hip hop, Hip hop, grime, noise rock, indie, drum n bass, proto punk, power violence, digital hardcore, doom metal, crust punk, dubstep, harshnoise, hardcore punk, dub, industrial, ambient, krautrock, stoner metal, electro, baile funk, gabber, speedcore, frenchcore, IDM, garage punk, neo classical and emo. Also there's some classical, jazz, black metal, art rock, EMB, metalcore and pop punk just outside my top 50.
Woah! Are there any genres that you forgot?

I'm not narrowminded at all. In fact, even stuff like pantera is vaguely listenable to from the far end of a few beers.

Not forgot, but I do get my fix of hardstyle, trance, electro house, bassline, jungle and rave from mixes so none of those are particularly high in my last.fm charts.
