Im not OCD at all, and living with it must be such a hard ordeal, I hate it when people claim to be "a little OCD" when in reality they have a prefrence to do certain things. It is like some new buzz word or something, thinking it must be cool to be OCD. Im just curious what someone who has the disoder thinks of these "coolness" around this disorder? Do you feel it is disrespectful of the disorder and the people who have it? do you like the attention and awarness it is getting?
As long as people understand the severity of some cases and don't try to claim that their habbitual desire to eat curry on a Tuesday or whatever is on the same level as proper OCD I just let them get on with it and ignore it.

In some ways it's the same as someone whose OCD makes them unable to interact with people or other such serious cases hearing me say my hands are dry from excessive washing. Though, I would never claim to have the disorder on a level that really changes my life, I'm still a functional member of society.

am i obsessive compulsive disorder?

i may be obsessive compulsive

but i am not the disorder itself...i can't be

my point being... i think the proper way to ask this question is

- do you have OCD?-

other wise its like asking "are you cancer?"

I like things to be at right angles or perpendicular to each other. If I'm watching TV or a movie, Or I'm on my computer, or If I'm just in my room, the door HAS to be closed. Volume should be a multiple of 5, or, failing that, an even number...
So yeah, I guess you could say I'm at least a little OCD.

Reading is what psychologists call an "overleared skill". You have it pounded into your brain from using it so often that you automatically do it without thinking.

OT: I used to organize all my games, movies, and books in just the right order when I was a kid. All that went right out the window when I went to college.

a bit on lots of minor things
ive got to chew evenly on each side of my mouth
take even steps on stairs, all sorts of random shit which i cant be assed to tell anyone
i get by

it's not really a problem or an obstacle
but deep down i think everyone's a tiny bit OCD
it's just the way our mind/brain/whatever the fuck works
God dammit, you just gave me those habits now. That's also a mind-fuck I have. Someone mention a habit, it gets stuck in my brain until I forget.
sorry
just be glad i didnt mention the other small things, and there are quite a few of them

but what sort of things do you do? like ive heard/seen some pretty weird ones before
like a guy in my year who, when someone pokes him on one side, he has to poke himself on the other side
and i heard of this guy who can only foods which start with a certain letter or something like that, it was weird

I am actually diagnosed with OCD, and I don't know how you can have it "a tiny bit". Annoying habits like filing things all the time is not OCD. I cannot sleep when I think the bedsheets on the bed are not perfectly, flawlessly smooth and straight, and I get physically distressed if I can't repeatedly sync my iPod or wash my hands whenever I go near a sink, among other things, and it pisses me off to hear people go "Ohh, I put all my DVDs on a shelf! I'm soooooooo OCD!"

If only these people realised how hard it is to actually hold down a job when you can't haul yourself away from the bathroom for five minutes, I'm sure their tunes would be different.

I prefer things in alphabetical order, but will not go insane if somebody moves something out of order for example.
I have a problem with open doors. God damn those things. I will weld them shut! When someone leaves a door open, I must close it, even if they're walking through it again in the next minute.

Some minor things. I have some weird habits. Everything has to be in symmetry. If I bump my heel into the ground, I must automatically bump the rest of my foot. Quite annoying. Itch right arm, must itch left arm.

And I have some nasty obsessive thoughts. I also see the worst case scenario in everything, especially when talking to people, so a tiny bit of paranoia there.

I also have some weird pattern habits. Like with the aformentioned itch thing, I sometimes get the habit of having to itch a number of times, over and over again. It's a real *****, cause my brain never gets satisfied, so the pattern repeats itself over and over and over.

Not a big deal, it's not serious, but it is a bit annoying at times.

I do have EA, which - company pun aside, is Excessive Anger (of course I just made that up for the lulz).

I have no disorder per se, though I did used to have to press certain buttons on my controller in patterns of four, and if I messed up I felt myself compelled to do it again until I got it right. This habit developed BECAUSE of all the loading screens I had to endure. Nowadays I no longer do that, thanks to the fact I got an Xbox (I used to do it with my PS2 controller), and the fact loading screens are slowly dying out, though ocassionally I do it again.

I also must have my games placed in playing order, and become rather distraught if they've been moved out of said order. It's only acceptable to re-arrange games if I have over-ruled myself, because I have noticed a game I would very much like to play earlier than the order would allow.

Presumably just quirks I guess, though my brother has the annoying habit of needing to touch people's shoulders several times as he attempts to walk away from them.

Yes. Very much so.
I can feel that something is out of place without needing to look at it. It'll bother me so much I won't be able to carry on what I'm doing until it's sorted.

This. Everyone has their own little quirks, but its usually nothing serious or that interferes with their life.

All my siblings and I have the exact same "Obsessive Compulsions" (Step counting, this weird thing involving tables/chairs and walking around them that I can't succinctly explain)

But they're defiantly not "Disorders" in any of us.
So no.

I don't have OCD. I have little quirks where always try to have everything symmetrical, or just have an even number. If i see something that I am organizing isn't symmetrical it bugs the shit out of me.
